Have you been to Newark lately? Many of us feel the way we do because there are TSA staff who go out of their way to be bad...and certain airports are famous for being collectively bad. Still nothing is being done to fix the customer service problems - which would go a long way to repairing the relationship between the screeners and screenees.

I don't know what the leaders are thinking, but why can't you believe that the screeners are really trying to keep you a little bit safer? Why are we always just hassleing you? Why can't the screening process be just what it is? Why are we trying to take away your rights, intrude on your privacy? Honestly, I haven't met anyone that interesting that I want to know that much about them. I just want to make sure your not carrying anything your not supposed to. Do I think your a terrorist? Not really. But if you get something through security that you shouldn't have, your gonna make a big stink about that too.
Seriously, again, I extend my invitation to you to drive up the Jersey Turnpike and go through EWR. For even more amusement, wear flip-flops or some other non-profile shoes and see even more excitement!

This "random secondary" crap that Hawley is selling is a license for your colleagues to beat their "officer" chest with the sewn-on badges and dispense with more retaliatory secondaries (previosuly known as "continuous screening").

It's not some tinfoil hat thing Bambi, there really are some screeners who get their rocks off on putting someone into the pen.

I was talking to one of the managers today and saying what seems to be going on at Newark. I've personallynever been there. We are going to see if we can go up there and see what is going on. Don't know if it will do any good, but this manager has some connections pretty high up. And their not shy about using them. Not only that, but this manager really cares about what's being done. Maybe we can help.

Will this be an overnight paid-for fieldtrip? Thursday and Fridays -- through to closing and beyond -- are often "fun". Remember to score some points.

No, its gonna be on our own time. I don't believe we're going to present ourselves as TSA. At least that was the last that I heard.

I hope you're serious about all of this. Please don't wear anything TSA or airport clearance badges (you don't need no stinkin' badges).

Really, wear non-profile shoes. Point that out. See what happens.

That'd be great if you do.

You might also want to say hi to Adonis at LGA while you're up there. And see if you can swing a trip thru SFO, DFW, LAS and DEN. They're notoriously bad.

If you're feeling really lucky, you can push for HNL and OGG. I didn't have a problem at HNL, but a lot of people complain about those two.

I only get 2 days a week off, and lately I'm working one of them. Maybe we'll do the west coast after the holidays.

You're actually going to volunteer to go up there and get... ummm... INCONVENIENCED? Oh, Bambi.

Diff is, you don't have to return to our world of never knowing when or why you'll be made into a public example. I know by your posts you are aware of this insidiousness, system-wide. And, who knows? Maybe it will do you, and the passengers you are victimizing, some good.
