LAX, PHX and BHM will ask you to take off Flip-Flops or ANY other shoeware and PUNISH you with secondary harrasment if you do not comply.

Get your facts straight.

So by your own statement you are saying that you are "not required" to remove your shoes.....is that correct ?

Your running in circles. WE ALL KNOW IT IS ONLY A RECOMMENDATION with an "or else" implied. You've been here too long to play dumb.

Add LEX to the list.

You're not required to take your shoes off before the WTMD, but at these airports you will be required to do so after the WTMD. Since there are only 2 sides to the WTMD (unless you're working it), you are, by default, required to remove your shoes at these scummy airports, regardless of whether you choose not to and do not alarm.

Giving people the choice between shoe removal or secondary harrasment is forcing people to de-shoe.

Stop drinking the kool-aid and realize that your agency is a joke.

So, just remove your shoes and go about your business. Or, you can stand there and argue about it thus giving the screeners something else to laugh about.

CarmelGreg, my abject apologies on this one. You are right, you did not say that, CameraGuy was the character. Please accept my apologies for this one. I will put my trusty TSA eyeglasses on to read the next posts.

But it really is fun goading you.;-)

Thanks, TSA. Ya, you are right, they all do look alike. From now on when I want to post a reply to their incessant ranting I will just use CG. That way there should be no problem because if one said it I am sure that the other has said it somewhere also.;-)

If the TSA web site states that I am not required to de-shoe, what gives these MORONS the right to demand it???????????????

The type of shoe you are wearing at the time dictates it more than anything. Just because the "public" part of the TSA web site gives a general overview of the procedures, that does not mean it is all-encompassing. However, there is no reasoning with you. You will find fault with any explanation and resort to name calling.

Telling people that failure to de-shoe will lead to secondary harrasment is a failure to follow SOP. Can you at least agree to that?

If you will at least agree to that, then logic would dictate that anyone who cannot follow a simple directive such as that must be a moron.

For the record (This must be the fifth or sixth time I have typed this):

I do not complain to anyone lower than Screening Manager. I know that the screeners, leads and supervisors are not the ones making up their own rules.

Complain to the FSD, he/she alone sets the policy at his/her airport. They can make screening more intrusive, but not less than the SOP.

I have asked to speak with FSD's in the past and been refused.

So far, the highest I have been able to talk to is Screening Manager.

Funny, but in the airports that I have made complaints, the supervisors all tried to fool me into thinking that they were the Screening Managers. Only after I asked for written verification that they were indeed Screening "Managers" did they admit that they were not.

Must be a culteral thing.

Someone tried to tell me there was no Screening Manager on duty and that I would have to talk to a lead. Yeah, right. 2 minutes later, I was speaking with the Screening Manager, who gave me the name of the FSD for that lousy airport.

That reminds me of a legit question:

Is a Screening Manager Required to be on duty at all times?
