Voice matching technology for border control purposes
The governments in the US, UK and various EU countries have been discussing the use of voice-recognition/voice-"matching" technology as a border control measure. [Some government contractors are licking their chops for more work.
]
The VRT matching attempts will be based on communications which are: (1) picked up by the NSA and its international and domestic team partners; or (2) otherwise provided/available to the governments indicated in the first paragraph here.
Even a turnkey totalitarian surveillance state wouldn't be infallible -- the border being no exception. Any bets on how many innocent people will eventually get hassled because of this approach to "border control"? Not sure, but I'm betting its harmless people who will mostly get hassled by this approach.
On the topic of border control using VRT, what happened to the following? http://community.seattletimes.nwsour...9&slug=2153427 Was a GAO report ever run to check out its performance/problems? That VRT matching system was a lot simpler than what is now being pursued for use at borders.

Sure, there are actually several. Or I wouldn't post this thread. [It's not like today I am posting on Halloween.]
If you are looking to know if the sources are some internet URL, well that isn't the case -- although there has been at least some communication with journalists about this. I'm sure you can try your hand at Google. [I will likely get around to doing one Google search if you say that your own Google search fell flat and want help here.]
Here's a bit of help:
Is this the same Robert Quick who got pushed out the door as "UK counterterrorism chief"?
Well, he's not one I would rely upon. But apparently he's not completely clueless either.
Here's a URL, one of a few running something from Bob Quick about this:

Ask any professional singer or someone who works as voice talent if there are many factors that can alter your voice, even something such as time of day.
I'm sure the technology will work very well.

Even the current biometrics being used can be altered, though not quite as easily as changing your voice.
