Flight Delayed Because Man Writes In Arabic

Paranoid Loon At AMS

The good news is that it was the paranoid loon who left the plane - though they did get a free flight the next day.

The article doesn't mention anything about writing in Arabic ... is there another source for that?

Here.

"An easyJet flight was delayed for two hours following a security alert when a passenger was spotted writing in Arabic.

A pupil on the flight from Amsterdam to Newcastle started having a panic attack when the man, a masters student in Iranian studies, was seen writing in his notebook.

The pupil started kicking on the seats in front before getting up and running to the back of the plane, according to The Chronicle ."

In what universe is this kid EVER going to be safe to fly? *HE* is the security risk, not a fellow passenger.

Well, they had presumably paid for the first flight, so it wasn't exactly "free".

But, yes ... for once, the innocent party was allowed to continue on his journey without difficulty. (Or, at least, no more difficulty than anyone else.)

I'd be pretty if I was one of the other 15 who weren't too scared to fly. I wonder how they treated Mr Scaredy-pants?

I'd be pretty if I was one of the other passengers, too.

No, you idiot, it wasn't a "security issue." It wasn't even a "potential security issue". It was someone writing on a tablet.

While Farsi is generally written mostly using the Arabic alphabet, was the Iranian studies' student really writing in Arabic or was he really writing Persian?

Don't confuse the Kettles. To most Americans and a good bit of the EU citizenry everyone from Morocco to India speaks the same language, and they're all on a never ending quest to hijack airplanes.
