The last time this happened to me at LAX, it involved an unaccompanied carry-on that TSA thought might contain a bomb. It took 15 minutes to find the owner in the bathroom. Meanwhile, no one was allowed into or out of secured area, only kept back a "safe distance" from the carryon bag...

I would really, really like to know how they determined "safe distance" from a bag they thought contained a "bomb". E.g a carry-on full of C4* - what is the safe distance for that? I, for one, wouldn't want to hang around it within viewing distance.

I especially like the part not being let away from the supposed bomb. Just making life safer for everyone involved.

* this is the only explosive I can name, fill in any else you want
