TSA trying to get flight deck privileges

I was talking with an airline capt. today & he advised me that the TSA has been trying to get flight deck privileges.

No reason to think it will ever happen & like he said even it did no airline capt. is going to allow them to ride as they hate the TSA so bad.

Easier for TSA to take control of the aircraft if they are already in the flight deck.
TSA has already shown they are willing to damage aircraft...

Flight deck privileges? They already made a disaster out of their TAT probe privileges.

Can someone find a link to this? It seems as if pilots have so far been tolerating the TSA since they don't have to endure their worst, but I can imaging them making a pretty good scene if the TSA wanted to put their finest McDonald's rejects in the cockpits, either during flight or while on the ground.

What, exactly, is the TSA's stated reason for wanting to do this? I'm no pilot, but if a TSA clerk inspected my bicycle for safety, I wouldn't ride it until I gave it a thorough once-over to make sure he didn't steal the brake shoes and wheel hubs.

A TSA Employee would have no clue as to what anything in the Cockpit is for. Only one reason I can think of. TSA wants access to the flight deck / Airline Pilots are starting to use iPads in the Flight Deck. Make sense to you?

Huh...maybe the TSA clerks want to steal the iPads and shove them down their pants.

OK, so...the TSA wants to make sure the iPads haven't been accessed by Terrorists(TM) who will alter the flight plans and make the pilot crash?

My cousin is a pilot and simply adores the TSA; I'll ask him if he's heard anything about this.

That's what I want to know, too. Inspection before the flight? Last minute random patdowns of pilots? Free rides between airports? Just trying to see what new outrageous thing they can get away with? None of it sounds rational, but this IS the TSA we're talking about.

Anyone with a link?

If I had to guess, it sounds like TSIs. But this is only rumor and speculation, it appears. It wouldn't surprise me if it were true, though.

Delta employees and management usually have their nose up the TSA's behind.

Unfortunately, the Internet doesn't carry sarcasm very well--he hates the TSA and has choice words to describe them. He wears his pilot uniform when he's flying personal/non-deadhead, since you get through the TSA faster with a pilot uniform and airline ID.

Let me rephrase that: something resembling a pilot uniform and airline ID.
