GE card acceptance at PreCheck stations
Not that I traveled frequently, but I've read all the stories about GE cards not being recognized by TDCs. A few days ago, I was at LAX T7 looking for PreCheck. Finally found a checkpoint upstairs, the only one I could reach the TDC without waiting in line. He didn't know where PreCheck was, but said his checkpoint would be faster than searching it, so I just went through that line, presenting my GE card and there was no question at all.
Now my question is whether the advent of the PreCheck program brought awareness to TSOs about GE cards. Or are they just relying more on surface or embedded features on the cards instead?

I only got GE earlier this year, after Pre was relatively well underway, but since then I have used nothing but that card at TDCs and never had a problem. I've done this at both Pre stations and non-Pre stations, even airports that don't have Pre at all (and are completely domestic).
Occasionally I get a comment like "oh, a lot of you guys coming through today".
I rather like being able to use an ID without my address on it.

It's a LOT easier to use them now (both Nexus & GE cards) since the TSA announced the Pre-Check Program.
In smaller airports, the comment is now "Oh, this is the first one of these I have seen" vs "Sorry we don't take those anymore"!!!

But does this actually get you the "TSA Pre treatment" (no shoes off, shorter line, etc)? My understanding is the only way to actually get treated like a TSA Pre was to have the airline grant you that on your boarding pass at check in, and in fact you don't even know if you're "in" until you approach the security line and scan your boarding pass. Or are you saying that all of that gets pre-empted by just showing a GE card to the TSA Pre security person?

I know at my home airport they now have a list of accepted IDs at the TDC and everyone has been re-trained on acceptable IDs. I've found with PreCheck coming online they've done a lot better job at IDing acceptable IDs. Occasionally at non-PreCheck airports I still get the TDC asking, "do you have another ID?" Even had one ask, "do we still take these?" to their STSO.

I believe the LAX T7 Pre-Check is on the Ticketing Level at the T7 main checkpoint, however despite being pre-check eligible I often find T6 Premier Access looking quicker and have never tried. Definitely no UA Pre-Check in T6 I could find, or I'd probably use it.
