Good thing one of these things wasn't found next to it.

A United Airlines flight from Newark, N.J., to Geneva was diverted to Boston this evening when a flight attendant discovered a camera in a seat back pocket and could not locate the cameras owner, law enforcement officials and an airline spokesperson said.
The flight was escorted to Bostons Logan International Airport by fighter planes and taken to a remote location.

Flight Diverted Over Unclaimed Camera
Simply unbelievable !!!!! Next time I find a camera in the seat pocket, I will just keep it for myself rather than return to the flight attendant. It will save a huge inconvenience to other passengers.

Check out the flight's path --

I'm guessing the plane had to dump most of its fuel before landing? How much did this paranoid flight attendant cost his or her employer and taxpayers?
Fear has a real financial cost, and it's driving this country into the ground.

Treatment by CNN on August 1
Upon reporting this story this morning, Soledad O'Brien at first spontaneously channeled what IMO is the justified outrage of needlessly inconvenienced passengers on this flight, saying something like, "Can you imagine how the passengers on that flight felt? 'Someone just claim the stupid camera so we can get to Geneva.'" I was momentarily shocked and surprisingly pleased (I don't agree with her opinions much).
Then a few seconds later she thought better of herself and made some inane "safety first" comment.

Don't laugh, someone will claim this. I still don't understand the logic here. There are probably dozens of cameras in peoples bags, what makes a "lone" camera more dangerous? In theory the camera went through security, so it should be as harmless as any other screened object, as after all, the super duper TSA screened it. If, as you said, some rogue clean crew terrorist snuck a bomb on board, wouldn't they maybe try and hide it somewhere?

An even more horrifying thought...
Doesn't TSA insist on doing their own inspection of all departing AC? (checking seatbacks, etal for verboten things) Oh No! Perhaps we have a rogue screener smuggling suspicious objects aboard! <gasp!>
