Bringing Flowers on an international Flight

Does anyone know if I can bring flowers via carry on to the dominican republiuc? My girlfriend will be picking me up at the airport and want to have something for her. They do not sell at the airport down there I have already inquired.

just to be sure...

How about an arrangement in silk? There are some good quality silk flowers available. You would be less likely to run into problems with customs and no worries about crushed live flowers (and no worries about fellow passengers with allergies). If fragrance is important, bring her a small bottle of perfume. :-)

As a very general rule, taking flowers on an international flight results in being sent to an agricultural customs inspector who can demand that the flowers be discarded, inspect them for insects and other problems, or let them enter. At best it will be a hassle and as someone said, not very nice for some other passengers or FAs on your flight who suffer from allergies. Besides, depending on the length of your travel, they will be out of water, subject to temperature changes, and potentially wilted or dead looking when you arrive. Plan another gift.

While that's true in "general", I doubt the DR has the sort of customs, if they even have them at all. I haven't been there for quite a while, though, so I don't remember.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect to be able to bring flowers into any country unless it has no local agriculture.

I don't think you're allowing to bring the flowers into the foreign country. You have wait to get there in final destination city. You have buy a flowers. When you get there in country and look for garden shop.
