I can't imagine what answer they are looking for. Are they expecting, "Well, I am a little nervous because I was considering hijacking the plane to Cuba"?

They are aware that people can and do lie, right?

What if you answered by saying, "Really good, except for jumping through the inane TSA hoops at the skwerty checkpoint!" Would you be in for "enhanced screening" as a result?

Woops, you've SPOT-ed me...another tewowist bites the dust! :p

What happens if they ask my destination and I just say, "Wow, that's weird, I thought it was right there on my boarding pass (pointing to destination)."
^^ Love it! :D

I pretty much gave the answers to those questions with the "state your name" crap. Ridiculous. :td:

My stock response is going to be a very firm "None of your business".

TSA would probably remember that scene and see it as a bomb threat. :td:

I get that.

But if there are no reports yet, I don't see the point in cluttering up the thread with other things.

Anyone who comes to this thread expecting to read, you know, "reports of the new BDO questioning at BOS" (as suggested by the title) is going to have pages and pages of off-topic chit-chat to wade through, assuming they don't give up first.

Just my 2 cents.

Its silly to think that the BDOs are looking for any specific answer. I have not been through the training, but such programs which have exist long before TSA employed them, and they have always looked for reactions. It is the non-verbal clues they are looking for.

I would suggest that the ASL sign for "deaf" might be appropriate.

Cannot "speak" would be better.

Well then they will probably pat you down! :) I used to be a TSO and I can tell you, we look for any excuse to pat people down. Sarcastic remarks are on the top of the list! (you should still say it though!)

As for looking for reactions, yes I am sure that is what they are intending to do, however I sincerely doubt their ability to accurately assess real trouble situations. I believe it will just evolve into another form of TSA harassment. It's clearly just another way to spend money and generate this "We are saving America" image they think they are projecting.

Thank you for your very believable answer! ^

Bolding mine: Believe me, if I am ever subjected to interrogation by a TSA BDO, I will be just as sarcastic as I can possibly be...before, during, and after the patdown! :D (I figure that I will get a patdown anyway, as I will always opt out of the Nudie-Scope!)

So is a look of total contempt and loathing a good non-verbal cue or a bad one?

Well, we are talking about Boston here ... isn't that completely normal for the locals? :)

If anyone from the TSA ever does get a clue, please let us know.

I think we should all do the Ahmed Ahmed routine:

Ahmed: How can we move this process along?

Agent: Why are you hurrying to get on this plane?

Ahmed: I have a show.

Agent: What kind of show?

Ahmed: I'm a comedian.

Agent: Oh? Then say something funny.

Ahmed: Uh, I just graduated from flight school?

I wrote a pretty long, detailed report from my experinece yesterday. It's in this thread. Maybe you missed it. Actually, all the Monty Python jokes stem from my report.
