Totally nuts. Is security at DTW more careful because of the Christmas Day incident? Going there, I was allowed to put my Kindle in with other items. DTW made the Kindle be in it's own tote as it went through the scanner. Weird.
I don't know about DFW, but they just did this to me in Auckland in late August. I had my neck pouch slung over my shoulder so I could get my travel documents and the check-in agent was like, "You have 3 carry-on bags, and you backpack is over the weight limit so you have to check it!" Then declared I could keep my (still overweight) backpack and check my carry-on since my laptop was in my backpack. Seems ridiculous to me, especially with the flip-flop on the overweight bag, but what do I know? 🤷‍♀️
