Who said it was dangerous?

My water bottle was taken from me. That's theft. You can dance around with "voluntarily surrendered" until you're blue in the face. That doesn't make it right and that doesn't make it something other than theft.

The TSA employee who separated my water bottle from me is a thief.

And you can dance around the fact that you can't back up your satement that it was stolen and that you think you can call someone a thief without backing up that laim.

Didn't know my phone had a spell checker....I'll look it up, because it seems to upset you, and gosh, we don't want that. Yawn indeed. Don't worry, it is the public who will judge what is/was un-American and the disgusting, un-American agency called TSA will be found wanting and punished accordingly. :)

Apparently, the TSO that confiscated had Spiff surrender his bottle.

Spiff had a bottle of water. He did not give the water to the screener voluntarily. The screener took the water away under threat.

Must be something in the water at SAT ;) not to regard that as theft.

Actually what it comes down to is this: before he departed chertoff said that there were various things TSA coukd do to make the checkpoint/baggage more secure, such as a physical strip search (not WBI) of passengers, and "dumping" everyones luggage, instead of using x-ray. These would be more secure procedres, but would take too long, chertoff said. So we don't do it. Who wants to spend 8 to 10 hours going through a checkpoint?

We have means to test MOST LGA - but we do not, for the same reason mentioned above. It would make the checkpoint inti a hours long process.

So what TSA seems to have done is to prohibit all LGAs is amouts above a certain size, not because those LGAs would always be dangerous (and I do personally believe LGAs represent a potential threat), but because to test all LGAs would take too long. Again, who wants to spend hours upon hours in the checkpoint?

Maybe some people wouldn't mind the extensive extra wait? I do no know, but if I had to guess I would say there are some who wouldn't mind. However, as it is right now, those who decide have decide that such a weight is unacceptable, and all LGAs over a certain size should not be allowed.

There was no threat. And he coukd have left the checkpoint to the lobby and drank the water, etc.

The point remains that TSA considers these LGA a large enough threat to not permit them through the checkpoint.

Yet TSA casually tosses these same LGA's into common trash at the checkpoint without any concern they may actually be dangerous.

The two actions do not add up.

Apparently TSA, who seems to think that thirsty terrorists are powerless to take over planes.

I will second what Spiff says on this subject. TSA has no good reason to place these nonsense restrictions on the amount of liquid that one can carry through the checkpoint for personal consumption. Yet one more thing that the agency can be ashamed of. (It's not like there isn't already a plethora of them out there.)

Maybe at your airport. At BWI, that can hardly be said. BWI TSA does not tell passengers that they have the option of stepping out of line, they demand that the item in question be given to them or just take it and throw it in the trash can. I have had it happen to me on more than one occasion, although not with LGA.

I have had tools, purposely purchased, at not insignificant personal expense, that were distinctly within the limits stated on the TSA website that were removed from my bag and thrown in a trash can at the checkpoint before I was even through the WTMD (a pair of non-serrated electrician's snips [less than 4" blade length wire scissors] and a modular cable crimper). When I requested information concerning the actions of the TSO, in both instances, the TSO and the supervisor took confrontational stances (hands on hips, stern looks, chest puffing), advised me that my mere attempt to bring the items through the checkpoint constituted consent to "voluntarily surrender" without further notification and threatened me with the now standard "do you want to fly today" and "we can have you arrested for bringing a dangerous item to the airport." Of course, requesting a BWI Airport LEO did nothing to help the situation, as I was told to leave or be arrested for "disturbing the peace."

So, TSA can spout "voluntarily surrendered" until the cows come home. Many of us will continue to see it as theft under color of authority.

Sorry, contents of the public water supply do not affect most TSOs. They don't drink it, nor do they drink the stolen voluntarily surrenderded involuntarily surrendered confiscated forgotten abandoned donated high explosive HAZMAT wannabe Hudson News revenue protection water they somehow obtain from passengers.

They only drink the Front Line in the Sand flavored Kool-Aid issued from Washington. :rolleyes:
