Ink Bold is a charge card, Ink Plus is a credit card. These two cards participate in the premium version of Ultimate Rewards which includes the ability to transfer points to airline miles (CO, BA) or hotel points. If redeemed for otherwise expensive air tickets (such as international business or first class) miles are worth more than $0.02 each, effectively doubling the rewards on all spending compared to standard Ink. This probably adds little incremental value if miles would be redeemed for domestic economy class travel.

Ink Bold also offers deeper benefits than any of the other Ink cards, see the comparison chart linked in my previous post.

Since I have been getting many solicitations for the Ink card from Chase I was interested to see this assessment of the product in the Mouse Print section of consumerworld.com for March 7, 2011.

"So, the real deal is that you only get 3% back in selected categories (gas, hardware, home improvement, dining, and office supply stores). Otherwise, this is really just a 1% card. And they seem to exclude superstores, discount stores, and warehouse clubs. Hmm, isn’t Home Depot a superstore or discount home improvement store?

And as to the claim that you get “unlimited cash back”, in fact they will limit your extra cash back in the 3% categories to just an extra $40 a month.

So what appeared to be a credit card offering a flat 3% back with no cash back limits, is nothing of the sort."

The improvements do not appear to apply to "Ink Bold" or "Ink Plus" cards.

I currently have the Ink Cash. Couple of comments:

1. Cash back bonus for dining is being decreased from 3% presently to 2% under the new terms in OP.

2. It seems from reading OP that they will bring Ink Cash to Ultimate Rewards, which will be awesome because if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred you could potentially consolidate the UR points and then transfer them all to Continental/Hilton/Marriott/PriorityClub/etc. Ink Cash right now does not participate in Ultimate Rewards.

I am giving serious thought whether I should cancel Sapphire Preferred when the annual fee is due (like I planned) or not.

Based on the features mentioned by koolr this offer seems to be for Ink Classic. The standard offer is 15,000 points:

However, Ink cards with no annual fee are not eligible to transfer points to airline or hotel partners, unless linked to another Ultimate Rewards card which has this feature (and an annual fee.)

Does anyone know for sure if the points from the Ink Bold card can be transferred to Continental Airlines and hotel programs without owning the Preferred Sapphire card? If you can answer this, please tell us the source of your information. Thanks.

I just received this offer as well. Might consider it if I can move the points over to CO or another airline. Is there a fee to do that?

I don't think you can transfer the points with Chase Ink classic card. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
