In April 2020 Chase criteria for approving BUSINESS card applications became more stringent. All Chase INK products are business cards. Chase also issues co-branded business cards for United Airlines (2 different biz cards), Southwest Airlines (2 different biz cards), Hyatt and IHG.

For general information about applying for Chase cards, including explanation of the unpublished 5/24 rule, please review the Wikipost of the PERSONAL card thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...ds-2023-a.html

Anyone can apply for a business card as a sole proprietor. If your business has a registered company name, which Chase can verify, you may use that name to apply. Otherwise, use only your legal First and Last name as the business name. Do not add any extra words, do not use a made up name. If Chase cannot verify the name the application will fail.

Useful Chase telephone numbers
(888) 269-8690 - Business Credit Card Application Status Line, automated
(800) 453-9719 Business Credit Card Reconsideration Line with live rep
(800) 453-9719 Credit Reallocation Office (Business cards)
(888) 622-7547 Executive Offices

Twitter: @ChaseSupport

Note: The automated Status Line often shows no record of business card applications. This does NOT mean that there is a problem with your application. You will need to contact Chase to learn the status, or wait for Chase to contact you.

You can use a single Username on chase.com to manage both Business and Personal card accounts, but you will initially need to set them up separately, and then telephonically ask customer service to combine them by merging the Personal account into the Business account. It cannot be done the other way. Once personal account is merged to business account, if all business cards are closed while keeping one (or more) personal cards open, online access to all cards will terminate and a new personal (online) account will need to be created using a different username than previous personal account.

Update: It is possible now to link Business and Personal accounts online. First set them up separately, then log into the Business account and follow this click path: Icon at the top right that looks like a person -> Profile & Settings -> Account Settings -> Manage Linked Accounts. Then look for the "Link relationship" option for the personal accounts. For more information on linking accounts: How to link Chase personal and business accounts?

Well, yes, but too late for that now. In addition, if she hadn't removed those credit lines from being associated with me then they couldn't approve the new card unless I was ready to submit all necessary financials to prove that I can be eligible to hold such a large total credit limit with Chase. So obviously for me it was easier to have them remove all those lines from my profile to bring down the total to an acceptable level and then move credit from an existing open line.

Has anyone recently tested 5/24 to see if that is still a requirement? My understanding is that it remains in place, even with the new evaluation criteria

Also I am told the pop up window (or lack thereof) is no guarantee of approval. Which I guess makes sense if the pop up is based on your SUB eligibility rather than credit record.

I told them that I'm very exasperated because I had previously spent hours on the phone to resolve this due to having duplicate and closed cards showing and being included in my total limit and could not believe that we're back to square 1 - I knew with certainty that I am not over their total CL allowed both for personal and business cards, plus I also told them I was ready to move credit from an existing business card for which I've applied.

She asked me several questions about the nature of the business and also asked why I need another card for it. I answered that I only have the Unlimited from Chase for this business but I did have an Amex Plat Biz for it too and I was looking to move to a different premium card due to the proposed upcoming changes and increase in fees for that card, so this was a great opportunity for us to move this spend to a Chase premium card . I was put on hold several times to have my card limits cleaned up (again!) and also between asking questions and some more questions but I was ultimately approved with credit being moved from another card (which I was perfectly fine with).
I had a very similar situation. I wanted a new CSRB to complement an already crowded portfolio of Chase personal and business cards (7 and 2 respectively). I dont carry balances but Chase admittedly had a massive level of credit exposure when combining the limit across all of my accounts (over $300K). Ultimately, they said no problem to the new card, but that they would not increase the aggregated credit line (and, in fact, I agreed to slightly reduce it). They let me allocate the total amount on a card-by-card basis as I chose. The only caveat was that the lines can move from card to card as I choose with the exception of the charge cards which cant have credit moved away from it, only to it.

New card will arrive tomorrow.

I've read through the post and don't see any comments about the "Review" stage for the new CSR Business. For anyone that has gone into review how long has it taken and what were the results? I currently have no Chase business cards in my name but do have a Sapphire Preferred and Freedom personal card. I'm over 5/24 overall but a few of those are business cards.

I didn't get the pop-up so I assume I'm OK on the SUB if I get approved?

I'm probably just paranoid, but at this point I've stopped assuming anything. When I open a new account (or my wife does), the first thing we do is send a secure message asking for confirmation of the SUB terms and the last date a transaction needs to post by to earn it. That way we have it in writing from them.

We did this even before they started with this whole discount pop-up jail thing, but I think it makes even more sense now because how are you ever able to prove you DIDN'T get a pop-up notice saying you weren't eligible. You can't prove a negative.

I called in around 48 hours after being in "review." I don't know how long it would have taken them to reach out to me but, when I called, they mentioned that would have eventually called.

I've called twice and both times I've been told that they need no more information and can't tell me why it's held up, only to wait. Every other experience I've had with Chase and the reconsideration line has resulted them either needing clarification or to move a credit line around between cards, I've never had it be nothing.

If it isn’t written down, it didn’t happen. If you don’t have a copy, it isn’t written down.

Agreed, the best you can do is accumulate and save evidence (screenshots).

(Joseph Heller novel "Catch-22", actually “Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.”)

What's the conventional wisdom these days with Ink cooldown periods? I was planning on sticking to every 6 months going forward (with P2 offset), but recently saw that the refer-a-friend bonus is going away in the fall. I'm probably overreacting, but thinking about applying on a more frequent basis in case this is a sign that it will be harder/impossible to churn Inks in the future.

Currently have 3 open biz cards - most recent being a United Biz (opened Apr'25), and a CIP the most recent Ink (opened Jul'24).

As noted above, I was rejected after a 2-year Ink hiatus (though only 6 months from last biz app). But that may have been related to my recent closure of an Ink Preferred. At the time I had 5 personal cards and 3 biz cards including CIU.

I'm now 5/24 so won't have a chance to add more test data until the end of the year. YMMV

Just got hit with an instant denial for Ink Cash. My last Ink approval was 10/22/2024. I just closed a previous Ink on 6/27/2025 so only 1 open Ink.

I messed up royally by having P2 add me to her Amex gold card as an AU in May for a small bonus, not knowing that would show up on my report as an open account (and putting me at 5/24).

I called the recon line and explained the issue with the AU account however he said that "wasn't on the line item" and still denied me.

Any suggestions? HUCA?

What was the reasons on the letter? I got hit with it a few weeks ago with 2 open INKs. I plan on trying again in the fall after I cancel another.

Same reasons as when I accidently applied at 5/24 before
  • Number of recently opened accounts on consumer credit report
  • Business structure
  • Insufficient business deposit relationship with us

Same generic ones. Maybe try again in 30 days. I usually wait until I notice the option to apply for any chase cards in my account. I am going to try to do 2 max going forward and hope for the best.
