Delay Receiving Cash Back

How cash back works

  • When you redeem for cash back, you can direct deposit it into most U.S. checking and savings accounts or you can choose to redeem for a statement credit
  • Statement credits will reduce your balance but you are still required to make at least your minimum payment
  • The amount available to redeem is based on your rewards points balance starting at 1 penny
  • Cash back redemptions may take up to 3 business days to post to your account
On Thursday, May 11, P2 redeemed 90,000+ points from a business card in the form of cash back to be deposited in our primary checking account. It's not a Chase account but it is one that we have received cashback into numerous times for over a decade. That process usually takes 2 business days. (Chase says it may "take up to 3 business days"). Very well, but today is Friday, May 19, and the deposit has not shown up.

I want to avoid eyes-on-account, so before contacting Chase, I thought I'd ask if anyone else is seeing cash back delays?

The only card where we use this feature is Amazon, We receive an email with the Subject: Your Cash back is on the way! , and it shows the last four digits of the target bank account. Did you receive an email?

Yes, P2 received a confirmation email. It included the last four of the account number.

ADDENDUM: I just called my non-Chase bank and they can see no direct deposit pending from Chase.

May I ask, what is the concern about eyes-on-account? I suspect my accounts might be as fragile as anyone elses here but I still call relatively freely, when I think its necessary.

5/19 SM sent to Chase: On 5/11, I requested my points be redeemed for cashback. As of today, that deposit has not appeared in my [bank name redacted] account (XXXX). That checking account has been linked to my Chase accounts for many years and, in the past, deposits happened in 2 to 3 business days. But not this time. It's been about 5 business days. Can you see if there's a problem and reply to me? Thanks, RNE P2.

5/22 SM received from Chase: Hello RNE P2, Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for the delay in receiving the deposits in your checking accounts. RNE P2, the issue has been resolved and your cash back will be posted within three to five business days. We appreciate you being a Chase customer.

5/26 Deposit from Chase posted: Only took two weeks.
