I had been waiting for the Saph Preferred sign up bonus to go up and decided to jump on the current 80,000 offer. I got denied the next day and the letter (in my account messages) says "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us." My last app was an Ink Unlimited approved 32 days prior to this one. Is it possible I applied too soon? I was under the impression that personal cards could actually be done up to 2 within 30 days. Here's my last few apps (all with Chase)
4/18...this Preferred, denied
3/17...Ink Cash, approved
12/26... Ink Unlimited, approved
11/1...Chase BA, approved
8/17...AU card on SO's Preferred card (is this an issue?)

Yes, as long as Chase biz cards don't count. The only other card I got in the last two years other than the list I posted was a Chase Ink Biz Preferred.
Update: Since I really want this card (not just cuz of the sign-up bonus) I decided to give reconsideration a call. Talked to the first rep who repeated the "Too many requests...blah, blah" line then suggested I may have accidentally clicked submit twice (which I don't think is the case). I was then sent to a specialist who took down my finance info and resubmitted my app. She didn't ask any probing questions or anything like "why do you want this card." I'll update when I get this result.

RNE, hoping the reconsideration goes your way.
*Which is why I don't subscribe to the oft-espoused knee-jerk mantra: "Product change your card; don't close it!"

See discussion from January 2022 regarding Capital One, well summarized by RNE in this post: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/33934190-post736.html

P2 applied for Slate Edge card. Got the "In review... 7 to 10 business days" message. Immediately (and I mean immediately!) went to her online account and saw the card there.

I see scattered data points but just want some reassurance lol - downgraded my CSR on 5/3 as I'm eligible for the 80K bonus. Would I be good to apply this weekend (5/7 onward)? That would be three whole business days for Chase's systems to sync up. Hopefully safe? I can't imagine they'll lift this offer before the weekend but ...

Well this is weird. Downgraded CSR on 5/3. Applied online just now and initially got the "application under review" message. Got an email saying "we'll let you know our decision by mail and this could take 30 days." I'm like wut - but then literally a minute later I got an email saying I've been approved. Called the automated numbers above and when I input my SSN it tells me "your application is approved." So weird. Never had this happen with Chase before.

Wow. I don't think I've ever had to hustle so much for a card. I have all 3 Inks, and about 33 days after receiving my last one, I wanted to try for the Sapphire Pref to get the 80K bonus. However, when I applied, I was denied. (I thought my spacing was good, but maybe not.)
After receiving the denial, I called reconsideration and spoke to the nice lady for a while and got her to resubmit the app (she didn't really ask me anything, but put me on hold a few times). Now, two weeks later, the card has finally shown up in my online account. Took about a month, but finally done.
I thought the rule was 2 personal apps in a month max and at least 30 days between business card apps. Not sure, but it didn't work that way for me.
