Incremental authorization notifications?

I have text notifications enabled and I just noticed this after riding on Lyft and leaving a tip for the driver:

Anyone else notice this? (I think this is new but I haven't used Lyft or Uber in a bit.) And are there any merchants other than Lyft where this is happening (such as restaurants)?

(For the record, I'm all for this, especially if it extends to other merchants too.)

Same with Uber. That is because you add a tip with Uber/Lyft after your ride is complete. Thus, as soon as your ride ends, the cost of your ride goes trough as an pending charge. If you later add a tip, that goes through as well. At a restaurant, there is no pending charge until the tip is added on.

Except that I definitely get pre-tip authorization texts before leaving restaurants. If the charge doesn't go pending until tip's added, I would expect the text to include tip and be sent much later (end of the evening or potentially the next day).

That said, there is likely a reason why this isn't a thing for those.

Looks like at least one Hilton does similar, at least when booked through hotels.com ($1 initial authorization the day before check-in followed by the "incremental" authorization text for the full amount + deposit on/shortly after check-in). Other locations/hotel chains may do similar, not sure yet.
