I upgraded in November right after my free night certificate posted. Was billed an $85 annual fee on 12/1/2018 then was just billed another annual fee of $95 on 6/1/2019. Tried to call but over 30 minute wait time so sent a SM asking why. If I don't get a credit, will cancel card for annual fee refund right after free night is used on 6/27.

I was in a similar timeframe to you, but looking back on my December statement, I can see the $85 annual fee followed immediately by an $85 Annual Fee Refund. So I guess I've had the card the past 6 months for free and now they're swapping the start date of the cycle.

My offer is now 2 free nights at the 35k level. That's tempting. The last offer I saw was for 10 elite nights lol.

Q: My current 25k free night posts in January. If I upgrade now, does that mean I won't get my next one until Jul 2020?

Same case with my wife. However, I have been told that moving forward I will be charged in June and the annual free night will be given on my account anniversary date. I find that quite unusual that they would charge the fee and not give the free night at the same time. I am leaning towards canceling the card (unless they offer a sweetener to keep it)

Update: Just called Chase to see if they would offer anything to keep the card. No offers so consolidated the CL to the Freedom and closed the account. Will likely open again in a year or so.

I also have the two free nights offer. That’s pretty tempting.

Does upgraded get voided by being over 5/24?

Upgrading is a Product Change, not a new application and hard pull. 5/24 doesn't matter for PC. You'll keep the same account open date in your credit report too.

I only received an offer to upgrade for one free night at the 35K level.
To make it worse, my annual fee should post on Oct 1, while the offer will expire on Sept 30. If I upgrade now, it means I will lose the anniversary night that is supposed to post in Oct.
A pass for me.
