What about Verified by Visa? It seems pretty commonly used for online purchases outside the US and having it may make purchasing train tickets, etc. easier. It doesn't seem like it'd be difficult to auto-enroll everyone and just have it send a one time code (for every purchase requiring it) via SMS or email--much like their website does when you log in from an unknown device.

Verified by Visa is a something that primarily benefits the card-issuer and is not a consumer benefit!

Since you are a consumer, you should ask for something that benefits you!

I've heard of some foreign websites blocking US cards unless VbV's used. I'd say being able to buy from those is a consumer benefit.

I think the primary cardholder has complimentary access to PP lounges.

Chase -- Up to 90 days after purchase, up to $500 per incident, up to $2,500 per year per card.
INCLUDES: ads for Cash Only sales, close-out/liquidation/going-out-of-business sales but only $50 per incident on these.
EXCLUDES: flea markets, limited quantities, seasonal sales, auctions, discounts of seasonal items, same as Citi from here.
NOTES: MUST file claim within 21 days of the advertised price.

Amex -- NONE. Again, Amex Plat is the highest priced card out of the bunch but fails to deliver.

Winner: Chase. 90 days vs. 60 for Citi AND Chase pays quickly. I know others may disagree with me, BUT I'm going by my experiences.
One big difference is Citi will match BF sales but Chase won't.

I ask because I will be purchasing and iphone 7 and Macbook and am unclear whether I should charge it to be Citi or Chase card with the extended warranty being the only deciding factor between the two.

Thanks in advance for your opinion.
To be honest, I've not filed a claim with Citi thus far, so hard for me to say from experience.

If it were me: First thing to keep in mind is that these items are more likely to be damaged than fail on their own. That said, I'd probably buy the iPhone via Citi due to them having design flaws from time to time, like the iPhone 6/6s having defective touchscreen chips. On the Macbook, I'd probably put it on Chase for more points. The only moving part on a Macbook is the fan, and it's not going to be abused like a phone would be.

The display hinge, keyboard and trackpad button (or haptic engine for the latest models) move, plus there's still one model MacBook with a hard drive in it.

Other than the hard drives, I can't say I've seen any of those things fail due to defect. Abuse? Absolutely.

It's worth noting that Citi's extended warranty is superior to Chase's in not just the time. Citi will extend the time after any extended manufacturers warranty. Ie, you could buy extra Applecare and Citi's would add on up to 2 years from that - up to 7 in total.

If you use a laptop for more than a few years, it's possible normal wear and tear can bust a ton of things, there are more parts that can fail on your macbook than a simple fan. The touchpad hardware can wear out, the hinges can break, usb ports can fail, etc.

Provided you still have the card with which you made the purchase.
