It's worth noting that Citi's extended warranty is superior to Chase's in not just the time. Citi will extend the time after any extended manufacturers warranty. Ie, you could buy extra Applecare and Citi's would add on up to 2 years from that - up to 7 in total.
If you use a laptop for more than a few years, it's possible normal wear and tear can bust a ton of things, there are more parts that can fail on your macbook than a simple fan. The touchpad hardware can wear out, the hinges can break, usb ports can fail, etc.
