However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

So, are the new perks worth it? I assume the old card keeps the $300 airline incidental credit, MR uselless gold, plus free night, for still $395?

He probably wants the 125k or whatever bonus is offered on Luxury.
How long does the Ritz take to receive? I was approved under the wire and was told 10+ business days because they have to check with Ritz for a rewards account. Is that true in practice?

In my case, an express shipment is created within 2 days of approval, and then it took another day to arrive. No idea on how long this supposed Ritz verification take.

Keeping mine, but wishing I could also get the Luxury SPG
I’m grandfathered in on the $395 fee. The discount Air has been helpful 3x/yr for me, the Air credit has been pretty easy to use, and the kicker (for me) is the Club Upgrades. Ymmv of course. Btw, I have SPG Personal & Biz and New Marriott cards. Will look closely at their usability as Categories evolve over time. Loss of the nights credit past the first card is pretty big as far as qualifying for next level of status for me. Cheers.

I wonder if it will still be possible to add additional cardholders to an existing account. I have only had my card for a few weeks and was planning to add my wife.

I called Chase a few days ago to cancel my personal Marriott Rewards card (I still have the business MR card). I had an AU on the personal account. I asked the rep to add an AU to either the business MR or Ritz card. She seemed willing to do either, but I chose the business card as I already had an AU on the Ritz card (easier to track when I only have one AU per card).
FWIW, they did move all but $500 of my credit limit to my Ritz credit limit.

Is there any educated guess on how the complementary Tier 1-4 certs will be handled post Aug 16? Is it likely to be converted to 60k cert?
