Chase: AARP CC

Hey guys,

I was thinking about signing up for the Chase AARP credit card today. Any thoughts? Getting 3% back for gas and dining out seems very tempting...

Are you, by any chance, a Costco member?

If so, Citi Costco Anywhere is better than this one.

The only downfall - you have to pay for the Costco membership to get this card.

With the Chase 5/24 rule you may want to reconsider wasting an app on AARP. I got this (among others) just before 5/24 went into effect and in hindsight I'm kicking myself for having wasted a Chase app on a card that I'm unlikely to ever use beyond the signup bonus. I wish I had gotten the IHG or Sapphire or United or Freesom Unlimited.

But if you dine out a lot and prefer the simplicity of cash back as opposed to miles/points, then it is a great card with no AF.

Is it strictly cash back or do they give you UR points which you can redeem for statement credit like the Freedom or Freedom Unlimited?

Thinking of getting it for my mother, who has Freedom and Freedom Unlimited but no premium card for transferring UR points to airlines or hotels.

Just in case you didnt know, the IHG card doesnt count against 5/24.

OK, so Cash Back Rewards point.

Not UR Points.
