The 5/24 rule for Chase, where 5 or more new accounts in 24 months can result in an application denial, appears to apply to Marriott personal cards but not the Business version of the Marriott card. For up to date information, please consult the wiki at Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward .

Bonvoy Business Card

1x regular spend, 3x Marriott spend
Which offers are better? There is no universally correct answer. Relevant considerations include these:
- Are you currently points-rich or cash poor? If you have 1 million Marriott points already, paying $85 for another 10K probably doesn't make sense.
- What does your typical award redemption look like? Specifically, what yield (cents per point) do you normally get at the properties where you do award stays? Unless you're getting almost a penny a point--paying an $85 fee to buy an extra 10K points is not a good value proposition. (Adjust accordingly if you're considering paying the $99 fee for a business card with 80K bonus.)
- Will the extra 10K put you over the top for a planned award? If getting another 10K will make the difference between having & not having enough points for an award you expect to book in the near future, taking the points generally makes sense. (Keep in mind that Marriott has added a cash & points award option for stays of 2+ nights, so you won't necessarily need the same number of points as in the past for a given award stay.)
I'm afraid to use a blind application page that doesn't list the signup bonus previously available on a now-expired landing page. How can I trust the links in the wiki?
How? The same way you'd trust the advice you're reading right now. If that makes you uneasy, OK -- but don't post in the thread asking for further reassurance. It'll be fine. Really.
Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
See the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards.
Once I meet the card's initial spending requirement, how soon will I receive my signup bonus points?
Bonus points typically accrue at the close of the billing period in which you incur the corresponding charges. Points should appear in your hotel/airline account within a few days thereafter.
NOTE: If you complete your required spending in the last 7-10 days of the statement period, the bonus may not post until the following month's statement, even if the regular per-dollar points post on the first statement. This is normal behavior for Chase and is not worth a phone call.
If I hold both personal and business Marriott cards, will I receive a 15-night credit toward status for each?
When will the Elite Night Credit for spend on the card (1 night for each $3K) appear in my account?
According to this discussion, it can take anywhere from one week to almost two months after the close of the applicable statement. There are also reports that the night posts approximately ten days after the calendar month that the $3k is reached, regardless of the statement closing date. So in this instance, if you need that night to reach status by the end of the year, the spend would need to be met by the end of November in order for the night to post in December.
How do I make a booking using a free-night cert?
Can I exchange a soon-to-expire free-night cert for points? Extend its expiration? What if the cert has already expired?
If I cancel my card after the annual free-night cert has posted, will I lose the cert?
See the wiki at Chase Free Night Certificate
Are there bonuses for signing up for the Marriott Rewards program itself?
Yes. There are two publicly available offers for new members to the Marriott Rewards program itself:
- Earn 2000 points for each paid, points-earning stay within 365 days of signup, up to 10k total, available as a referral from existing members: 2014 Member Refer a Member Sign-Up Bonus
- Or, earn a Category 1-5 free night after your second paid stay within 120-150 days of signup: Cat 1-5 Free Night Offer

If you mean can you change to the $95 AF personal card: You can't change the application or the signup bonus. You can later upgrade to the version of the card that used to give 100k if you applied for it outright, but you won't get the 100k, just the card itself. You may or may not get an upgrade bonus offer. (The upgrade bonuses vary widely, but are in the 10k to 50k range I think, with the 50k more often given to people who've had the card they're upgrading a couple years or more.)
If you want more Marriott points from a card "now":
You might be able to get 125k if you apply for the upcoming Amex "SPG" luxury card on exactly Aug 23, 24, or 25 (and I'd say the sooner within those 3 days the better, just in case). It's supposedly going to have a 125k singup bonus, but it's supposed to launch on Aug 23, but then on Aug 26 the new rules for signup bonuses on all Marirott/SPG cards kick in and you will no longer qualify for the signup bonus if you apply on or after Aug 26.
But until we see it available, l we can't be absolutely sure that for the first 3 days it will be exempt from those new rules.
Btw, I'm guessing you'll be able to apply for the "SPG" luxury card using your Marriott account number. I know that I was just able to successfully transfer 1000 points from Amex to my Marriott account number, even though Amex called it a transfer to SPG and asked for my SPG number. (That's because since this weekend, SPG numbers are in the same format as Marriott numbers.)
The new rules coming on Aug 26 are that if you got a signup bonus for any Marriott/SPG card in the past 2 years (as determined by Marriott, not by the bank), you will not be eligible for a signup bonus on any Marriott/SPG card. So since you opened a Marriott card in Apr 2018, if you don't apply before Aug 26, you won't be eligible for any other Marriott card bonus until sometime around mid-2020.

The rules for reapplying are spelled out in the wikipost of this thread:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...17-onward.html
in section 8, where it says:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...17-onward.html
in section 8, where it says:
- Chase's policy does not indicate whether there is also a minimum waiting period between cancellation and reapplication, and there is not yet sufficient anecdotal evidence from FTers to draw firm conclusions. At a minimum, a prudent churner will wait at least a week or two after cancellation before reapplying so that all of Chase's systems fully reflect that closure. (See first bullet point above.) At least one FTer has reported re-applying successfully 14 days after canceling the previous card.

My free night certs and 15 night credit have always posted within +/- 1 day of the annual fee posting. Right now I could imagine nothing is posting properly to MR accounts as they sort out the merger of their rewards programs and back end systems. A note displayed on the screen in your activity page even says as much. I suggest giving them a few more days to sort it out before calling.

I will be doing an application within 7 days of closing the Marriott Premier card. I'll post my success/failure when I figure it out. Basically I wasn't paying attention to the 8/26 deadline and I'll have to apply by the 25th to try and get the bonus as I have the SPG Amex. If I don't get the bonus, I'll just cancel the Marriott Premier Plus card. I realized that didn't have much time and closed the account last week.

Plan to apply for personal card for me and spouse. I have Biz card.

Yes. The new SPG luxury card is pretty restrictive for the 100K bonus. Can't have had a Chase Marriott card in the last 90 days in addition to the no bonus in 24 months. Ritz-Carlton card is only in the last 30 days.
