My M+ explorer, less than 1 mo old had fraud charges, several hotel and gas charges in PA and MA. I detected it myself, and called Chase, they cancelled the card and reversed the charges. Hopefully wont affect my mileage accrument to the 60k after $2k spent in 3 mo. Anyone know if there could be any possible mileage bumps for "inconvenience"?

Told her they were gift cards and few days later I sent an SM to get the airline credit without any problem

Chase was great and overnighted a new card but I hope this doesn't become a pattern.

2 Ritz cards in my household have now been compromised 6 times since December. Last occurrence I told them to just closed it down since I'm tired of it happening (which they seemed happy to do). Some of the 6 were activated and never used, so either my telephone is tapped, or it's somehow an internal issue within Chase.

Ink Card

I got my first fraud charge on my Ink account early this morning. $2 charge for a landscaping company out of Ohio. Looks like their system caught it. Earlier in the day I used the card on Gfyt.com and raise.com. I'm wonder if they got my info from there.

My Ink card has been compromised for the second time in six months. This time Chase declined a purchase at a bar in Rio de Janeiro, and I've never been to Rio before. Six months ago a $500 hotel stay was posted to my Ink card from a hotel in the Netherlands.

I've had my Ink for a year and the ONLY three places I make purchases on it are at Staples, Office Depot, and xfinity wifi.

I wouldn't be surprised if my information is being hacked from Staples and/or Office Depot.

Had my card number stolen again for the third or fourth time this year. This time, I was in the middle of a trip and had to switch to the Amex. Just replaced my last CSP last month! Not sure if it's happening more frequently in Florida or cause it's really starting to be a pain the a$$ always having to update my accounts (ie. Amazon, cable company, phone bill, etc.). Debating calling the CSP 800 number and asking for a few points for the inconvenience.

I just got a fraud alert on my Ink too. This will be the 5th Chase card this summer I believe.

2 chase cards compromised in 2 days

I have just had 2 chase cards compromised in the last 2 days. One card has not been used since January of this year and the other has had no activity since April of this year. Both cards are in my possession and both transactions were done online. One was missing the security code but had the exp date the other didn't ask for the csv and had the wrong exp date. I am going to compare the 2 statements as both were only used for about 3 months each. Anyone else had any issues with chase cards recently? Looking for data points to see whats going on. I have only had 1 card compromised before, never 2 in less then a few days.

comparing the 2 statements for all transaction history the only common purchases locations

Chick-Fil-A
Mcdonalds
Publix
Target
Wal-Mart

One card was the united mileage plus and the other was the Marriott rewards.

Thanks

There's a thread on Has Chase been hacked again. Many people including myself had cards that were put in a sock drawer and after months all of a sudden had a charge. My case they were in a safe. I've had 3 replaced by Chase without asking, in most cases they were caught by Chases fraud dept. There's a number of different ideas. But Home Depot, Target and others are probably to blame?

I just had my INK card replaced twice in 3 months. I only use the card for telecom 5X categories currently. Today I get a call about another Chase card I have. I didnt even call. This is getting crazy.I want something for all these hassles with changing auto pays etc.

My wife and I both have our own Ritz Carlton JP Morgan (Chase) visas. We have used mine quite a bit in the last year, and I plan on keeping it when it comes up for renewal next month, as I spent enough to keep Gold status.

My wife's we haven't used much in the last 10 months, and only got for the sign up bonus last year, and we only used it for the initial spend and the $300 airline reimbursement early this year (January). In March(ish) she had two charges from England show up for over $1000. Called up Chase and they reversed the charges and sent us new cards. The new cards have actually sat in their original envelope they came in, and that's been in our office drawer since they arrived.

Today I was doing some random checks on our accounts and noticed a $64.95 authorization (still pending) from 9/1 on her card (that's never been taken out of the envelope except to verify receipt months ago) from American Eagle. She called up Chase and they canceled this set of cards and said they are sending new ones, again. We were actually planning on cancelling my wife's Ritz card anyway as the annual fee is due next month and we didn't want to pay the fee for two cards again. This gives me even more reason to cancel.

My CSP card is my main spender and will continue to be, but I'm starting to lose my faith in Chase/JPM.

worst bank ever for fraud

I churn a bunch of cards with a lot of issuers.

Chase is BY FAR the worst for getting cards (including debit cards) compromised. Family has had I believe 5 Chase cards compromised in past year, and maybe 1 from all other issuers.

I hope someone with some authority does an investigation, because it's sounding more and more like Chase had a major security breach recently or has some algorithm with their cards that's easy to predict, and they're afraid of admitting it publicly for fear of scaring away customers.

tmiw Sep 6, 2015 3:09 pm

For what it's worth, I haven't really had fraud issues with Chase cards (yet?). My CSP did get preemptively replaced months after the Home Depot breach though so maybe that has something to do with it.

Dr_wanderlust Sep 6, 2015 3:24 pm

these are not signs chase is being hacked but rather that retailers and consumers are having their data compromised. Since chase is such a huge issuer, it is no surprise there are a lot of reports for chase issued cards.
