Can you have Chase Freedom Visa AND Mastercard?
My husband's SW Visa is due for annual fee soon. I sent them a SM asking if that card can be switched out for a no-annual fee card such as the Freedom Mastercard. (He already has the Freedom Visa.)
Here is the response I received which seems to imply he can't have both the Freedom Visa and the Freedom Mastercard.
"Thank you for showing interest to have a Chase Freedom
Mastercard.
At this time, I am unable to change your current account
to a Chase Freedom Mastercard. I apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause you.
Further, as an alternative, you may apply for any new
product. For new account applications, please visit our
web site at www.chase.com. Select "Credit Cards" from the
"Personal Banking" section. Then choose the desired card
and apply for a new account online.
Also, you may directly call us at 1-877-882-1890. One of
our Chase Application Center Specialist can answer
questions about new application, terms (affecting the
credit history) and process.
Moreover, when selecting the credit card that best meets
your needs, please remember that our policy no longer
allows for customers to have more than one credit card in
the same product. Applications for a card product you
already have may not be eligible for approval.
If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center."

From what I've gathered, you can convert Chase branded products to other Chase branded products. But you cannot convert, say a United or Southwest card to a Freedom / CSP / Slate, etc.

Sign up through the link at mastercard.com - that's the only way I think you can guarantee yourself of getting a MC instead of a Visa. My understanding was that you could only product change within the same network (visa or mc)

Wonder if I should convert my CSP to freedom master card, but I already have the freedom visa.

I have a Freedom Visa that I applied for several years ago, and I had just downgraded my CSP to a regular Sapphire in October. Called today to ask if I could switch the Sapphire to a Freedom Mastercard. Rep was hesitant, thinking that I couldn't have two of the same product, but said he would try, and it worked! So now I have both a Chase Freedom Visa and Freedom MC.

I converted my CSP to freedom master card today. I logged on to my card account and it shows the number hasn't changed. It is still the same numbers from the CSP card but has freedom logo. Called and the rep told me the freedom card will have the same number and that I can use it as a freedom card until I receive the converted freedom in the mail. But I tried to sign up for the freedom 5% category bonus but it wouldn't work.
I have an existing Chase freedom visa for long time.
It says

I kept the same number, too. I tried to enroll for Freedom bonuses but it took several days, even after I had the new card in hand, before I could enroll.
