Hi Rebecca
Welcome to the community.
The best time to go to Panama is April/May or Sept/October.
You can spend 2 days at Panam city (Casco Antigo, Panama Viejo, quick shopping, cinta costera). But Then, I highly suggest you to go to Bocas Del Toro.
it's amazing
You can check my video of my trip in Panama. It's will show you all the things to do
See you soon on Flyertalk

Hey Rebecca. Great that you're thinking about Panama! As the others said, Panama City and Bocas are wonderful places to go. Keep in mind that our Summer is from December to April, so there's a lot of sunshine, and the rest is Winter, so it will be raining every now and then. October/November are notorious for being very wet months.
If you're interested in nature, I would recommend going to Boquete. It's near the border with Costa Rica, and the other side of the volcano from Bocas. It's a beautiful mountain place full of nature, waterfalls, hikes and incredible tree zip lining. Did the zip line during a rain storm and it was one of the best activities I've done there. If you're going during Summer months, in January there's a very nice flower festival. Boquete is also where Panama's coffee is produces so you can also do a tour around that shows you how it's all done.
If you're interested in sun and beach, then I would recommend San Blas Islands (Guna Yala). It's an indigenous area in the Caribbean, and they have around 360 islands. Some of them will have accommodation for you to stay a couple of days. It is a lot more relaxed than Bocas, and I would say it's more beautiful than Bocas.
Also something unique I would suggest near Panama City is visiting an Embera indigenous village. There's some that welcome visitors and you can experience the culture and traditions of that indigenous group. Panama has several different indigenous people, the Gunas are in San Blas islands, and the Embera in the east of Panama, living by the rivers. the Ngobe and the Bugle are in west of Panama, you would see them in Boquete because they work there, but there's no much happening in the communities where they live.
I hope you find the right combination of places and things to do!
