HongKong airport on Saturday was like de-serted.

I flew biz class and counted 40 seats with only 4 of us occupying them - biz lounge huge one - had less than 10 people in it. (I spent ~8 hours in there)

But also figured HGK to be possibly the most disinfected place on earth.

i-Cable lunch segment:

1) Wristbands being slapped on this morning. They look like Ocean Park Halloween wristbands - you can't take them off without cutting them.
1a) The app may request the quarantined to photo their wristbands within 1 min. Then they app will start to vibrate. Then the cops get called in.

2) No-one getting throat swab sample collection kits this morn

3) 90 min wait to pass thru quarantine questioning. Even Taiwan planes are being caught up as CHP officers identify and segregate transit pax from US.

Pax are looking for hotels rather than going home.

My network has 14 students form UK US and Canada over 9 families. They booked two service apartment for them all and families will rotate on food delivery duties.

My comment "Party time " .

Do you think the next generation can handle a crisis like the SARS generation?

I flew in yesterday from BKK. The (CX) flight was full (it was supposed to be on A351, changed to 77W the day prior). It landed a few hours before the mandatory quarantine cutoff, and the airport itself was indeed pretty deserted — there was one luggage conveyor belt in use when I arrived in the hall, which I don't think ever happened to me before in the hundreds of time I've been there...
With the new quarantine rules in force since today I'm wondering how many weeks CX will keep any sort of capacity as the demand will dry up once most overseas HKers will have made it back home.

They'll live. Look at all the stuff they managed to DIY for ELAB and now for the evacuation.

Not quite QF International but getting close to it.

The US are preparing a USD58 billion lifesaver for the airline industry. I assume/hope that the HK Government is considering some bailout too. Any news?
