I noticed there was a relatively large increase in my HSBC RC balance today.
But I forgot to note down what the prior amount. Anyone notice a huge increase?

Bonus from the previous March/April promotion?

I saw a nearly ~300 RC increase. Funny, as I don't recall spending any where near that cap limit and most of my spending should have been near the end of the month in April. But reading the T&C again, the oversea spending promotion was only until 15 April 2013...

Not that I'm complaining...

Any cards specialized for online payments in foreign currency?

i am planning for a 3 week honeymoon trip in december and involves spending a great deal of $$ in booking hotels/activities online. any cards suggested to earn the most AM? seems CCB eye is good.
also wish to know if it is worthwhile to redeem return flights in december for MH/CX HKG -MLE in business class (for honymoon)? it seems MH is often doing promotions on its tickets... or should i save the AM for a europe return tickets?

I played BEA Easter 9X ($0.88/mile) but needed >=HK$400. 14X is "only" $1.11/mile. I spent on BEA when bill was north of $400 and HSBC under...no wonder I had to ask for my RC.

Similar to DBS Page One Two Three Four $15 free mag
But:
- $1 payment needed
- either no boarding pass check or boarding pass check but today's departure or arrivals boarding pass OK
- one person can only enjoy the benefit once even though T&C says per card - so possible to use different card in different branches and not get charged

Relays I can think of (or have seen on the trips I've just returned from):

Unrestricted area:
- Arrivals between hall A and hall B exit
- T1 7/F (departures level) near check-in island C
- T2 3/F (lowest level, same floor as CX/Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounges)
- T2 5/F (departures level) near check-in island N

Restricted area:
- Between Gate 15 and 20
- Gate 40
- Gate 15
- Gate 64
- North Satellite Concourse (Gates 52x)
- Inside T2 restricted area (before the people mover I suppose)

(full list http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/s...ooks/rela.html )

Turns out there are T&C relating on bankcomm.com.hk that go above and beyond the tent card. Note following term:

http://www.bankcomm.com.hk/mediafile...f_16805_en.pdf

"6. During Promotion Period, each eligible card can redeem maximum 6 times and 1 time per day. If exceed the number of redemption, the Bank reserves the right to charge HK$15 administrative fee per piece in January 2014."

avoid Citibank card like a plague. Without getting into intricate details like...
- never able to speak to a real person on their phone banking having went through 10min of prompts (not even to Indian Trainee in Bangalore)
- being promised certain welcome offer 20k asiamile so I signed up to Premimer miles card, then only being told that no such offer exists... not solved until I informed them I will file a formal complaint to HKMA (central bank of HK) as well as presenting evidence of Citibank offer showing 20k Asiamiles
- being charged late fee + finance charge because their bill never turned up apparently never sent
- my personal details being sold/used so I get daily phone calls from Citi telephone sales asking me to borrow some money
- increased my credit limit without my consent thus affecting my credit score
- never being able to cancel this card - despite going to a branch (after failing on telephone banking speaking to some Indian dude) they said I must pass a 2-week retention trial period

sorry I said i won't get into details but I hate citibank with disgust and their ongoing troubles aren't worth the welcome offer.

Not the first time they refused to honour an offer...*this year*...http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...p?id=9774&p=11 #105

Had long shouting matches about this

Worse - this year they opt-in everyone into estatements - http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...p?id=10305&p=1 .
My teammate was charged twice for this. Got bloody belligerent the second time. Citi did waive the second charge.
HKMA should make this illegal but regulators are generally too pro-business here.

Citi doesn't sell info per se, but they do buy such data http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...hp?id=7848&p=1 10#. hing123 followed through a Citi sales call to prove Citi actually bought his info.

Actually I found DBS, SCB and BoC are even worse practioners of this http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...ow.php?id=9989 #5. Citi wasn't too aggressive in giving me credit limit. But then again I do nothing with them but churn them.

Sorry to hear you've been taken for a ride...all you needed to do was to fax this http://www.scribd.com/doc/153355692/...ation-Form-pdf

Citi is nice to use if you use them like I do...12 months in, 12 months out. Don't use the card, participate in any of their offers except (published) welcome offer, and enjoy the Plaza Premium Lounge.

I was planning to apply for 3xRewards + 1xPremiermiles in December but I'm having doubts about this now.

Thanks!

iii. BEA Plat - 1 mile per $8 spent ($50 fee per 5,000 miles redeemed, min $150 and max $600)
iv. BoC Platinum Visa/Dual Currency Unionpay - 1 mile per $15 spent (no fee)
Also as a P.S. - the HSBC Platinum/Gold Visa welcome offer I mentioned on 12 Jul 00:21 (prom218) - also counts bill payments.

CCB 939 promo 16 Jul-15 Oct $2.01/mile

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=10871
http://www.asia.ccb.com/hongkong/pro...s_snr/tnc.html

$11,600 = 7,000 + (11,600 - 3,500)/100 x 839 = 74,959 extra pts
Add basic 74,959 + 11,600 = 86,559 or 5,770.6 miles

11,600/5,770.6 = $2.01/mile

Hi experts brothers

Would you guys recommend the AE platinum credit card?
my main card is not the SCB PB VI Visa card.
I also have the DBS black amex, but rarely use it

I am not an expert, but my view is

AE Platinum is good only for Maxim spending (getting one person free), Broadway Cinema (buy one get one free) and extended warranty (which you can get with other AMEX issued card as well).

The earning rate is $7.5/miles.
Comparing to DBS black, DBS Black earning rate is $6/miles local and $4/miles for overseas spendings.

Actually DBS Black has a decent earning rate (actually the best in HK for non-category/brand specific general spendings), perhaps you should use it more.

Going back to your question, it depends if you often visit Maxim and Cinema to cover the annual fee. In any event, it is not a good card for you as the principle spending card in light of your DBS black.
