Dear all, would my supplementary card be also eligible for the extra 1000 hsbc reward cash if she signs over 20k?Does that mean I'll get 2000 RC for a 42k billed split between us? Thanks!

Yes

Just applied for the SC Amex world miles and their Platinum Visa (it comes together). I have a HSBC premier MC and the Citibank Prestige. Percysmith, which card gives the best value for AM (both local and overseas spending)?

Many thanks.

For the Standard Chartered promotion - http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=12964

Can I rely on my spouse's spending to reach the tiers? Our cards have the same number. Thank you.

Whatever your HSBC 6x category is will come first $2.78/mile
Citi prestige mc overseas spending $4/mile
SCB Amex local spending $5/mile
Citi prestige MC local spending $6/mile

A couple of years back, DBS provided an Eminent Card to members which provided airport car transfers at HKD 100 each way. What is the position now? Thank you.

Very useful thread, thanks.

I'm new this mile gathering lark. Here's my plan, and a bit of advice would be appreciated.

I just signed up for the HSBC x6 category rewards, and the 1000 RC bonus if spend HK$20,000+ before October 19th. My missus has also signed up for both with the supplementary card she has on my account. I have chosen 5x home and she chose 5x lifestyle for the red hot promotion.

The plan is I spend just over 9k in relevant stores each of the next 3 Fridays, and she does the same with her card. I calculate this would return about 65k Asia Miles (or about $0.83 per mile) between us, minus $300x2 annual fee for the RC to Mile converter plan.

There are a few obvious things I want to buy, some of it would be manufactured spend though. Are there good options for this, such as any of the stores sell store coupons which can be paid for by Credit Card?

And does this plan sound sensible?

Thanks very much for any help.

A word of warning for a newbie: I think the 1000 RC promo requires each transaction to be a minimum of hk$500. It's worth double checking the terms to make sure. Although if you're planning to spend $9000 in one day, this probably won't be an issue for you.

Thanks Crazyj82, that seems to be correct yes.

Another question regarding the 11x on Friday promo. Is it simply an accumulation of whatever you spend on the day (no matter how many transactions) in participating places divided by 250 then x 11?

Thanks again

I believe you're correct about the way the 11x works.
