Cathay Pacific booking

Hi ...

Not sure if anyone can help ...

I have a number of flights booked with Cathay from London to HK to Auckland for the end of August 09. These were booked via a UK travel agent.

I can not see the booking on the UK Cathay Pacific website. Cathay UK customer services have told me that I will not be able to see my booking until 48 hours before my flight .... is this true?

I have the e-tickets, but as I want to be able to check in on-line 48 hours before - need to be able to view booking on-line before that?

So could someone confirm when I should be able to see the booking online - Now? 48 hours before?

Thanks Mark

Just to be clear, you have been to this page and entered all the requested information?

If so, what error does it give you?

Note that as stated in the FAQ if the ticket is part of a Group Booking then you won't be able to view it online.

Did you try entering the 5 character booking reference number, or the 10 digit e-ticket number?

The other thing to try is to sign up for AsiaMiles and then get your travel agent to enter your AsiaMiles membership number into the booking. Then you should be able to find it.

Hi,

I have put in both the 5 character reference & the e-ticket number .... no joy ... but the agent has just told me that I will not be able to see anything on line until 48 hours before I fly ....

I don't want to join AsiaMiles, as I am a BA Exec member, so want all the miles to go there ....

Oh well, maybe I'll just leave it till 48 hours before & check again ... only got less than 2 weeks till then.

Thanks Mark

Are you sure it's in a booking class that will earn miles? Group tickets often aren't.

Hi,

It isn't a group booking ... well it shouldn't be .... these are 2 BC flights to Auckland & cost 4k, so they better not be ..... mind you that is 1.3k cheaper than I paid in Christmas 2007 for flights to Oz (using Cathay)!!

4K each or in total?

You do realise that in CX's new business class you are travelling on your own - no seats allow you to communicate with your travelling partner?

4k total .... I have used the new business class before - Sydney - to HK a few years ago .... the business of not being able to talk to your partner is a pain ... but most of our flights (apart from the last one) are night flights, so we should be able to survive ... we will sleep on those flights .... I also wanted to stick with a BA partner, so I could get miles .... BA / Qantas to expensive!!

Thanks Mark

That's a stunningly good price - I don't think I can easily get either of those legs from HKG for that little!

Cathay Pacific had a sale on a few weeks back - my wife & I are going London - HKG - Auckland, then Melbourne - HKG - London ....

I used Flight Centre .... this is a UK company ... each fare was 1998 pp .... of course we are going out end of Aug09, coming back near end of Sept09.

Anyway Cathay have just told me that I will not be able to see my booking until 48 hours before ... so I'll just wait ...

Thanks for all the responses ...

If you do join AsiaMiles and have your number attached to your booking, you will be able to view it immidiately online.

You can still have the flights credited to your BAEC account. Just join AsiaMiles for the purpose of viewing the booking, and then have the agent at the airport change the FF number to your BAEC account number. And make sure that your BAEC number is what appears on your Boarding Pass.

This way you get to both view your reservation online and earn your BAEC miles and Tier Points!

Also, check Seat Guru and SeatExpert, and then call CX to have your seats assigned. As you're flying J, you are eligible for seat pre-assignment.
