potential "blond" question re mileage burning
Basically thinking about a trip to BKK for two people.
With CX that would be 40,000 miles plus HK$1,000.
Flight only to BKK is around HK$2,000 per person.
Now, is the 40,000 miles burning worthwhile, or a waste of miles.
I think it is a waste of miles, but wanted to double check.

I have had a similar question for myself also for my TYO trip, end up cancelling the redemption before being ticketed and use it to redeem open jaw TYO + KIX trip ...
I think the point is ... if you want to do open jaw / stop-over / multi-carrier / stay longer than average minimum (e.g. 7 days for short haul), then mileage make sense ..

Don't book that now unless you have to - the fuel surcharge will be revised for all tickets issued from 1 February onwards and I expect it to come down a bit. Expect an announcement today or tomorrow.
