Are you a Diamond or Emerald...

asked the gate attendant while she was looking at my boarding pass while waiting in line to board CX880 last Monday. Is it too much to ask for CX to hire personnel who are able to read what's on the boarding pass?

* Interesting - I expect that staff in HKG are better trained.
* Why should she care whether you are DM or EM anyway? Is she taking you to the front of the line? I don't think there is any difference between a DM and an EM at the gate.

i bet. with the salary package from CX, i'd be surprise if anyone has a basic knowledge of anything would get there...

I'm not trying to be nasty, but that's the case, especially with the new staff...

Did you figure out why she wanted to know whether you are a DM or an EM?

I think she was trying to verify if I belong in the queue. It just ticked me off that she was asking my status while she had my boarding pass in hand and was looking at it.

I don't think she was trying to distinguish between the 2. Just checking whether the OP is entitled to priority boarding, and attempting to clear the priority line of people who shouldn't be there.

I thought they changed the benefits anyway so that any marco polo member, including Green, gets priority boarding. The lines on the left side have certainly been much longer.

it's been the case for about 2 years now - I think they changed it since the CX/KA merger / when KA started to be included in the MPO program
