Question CX293 - HKG-FCO Aircraft Question

In regards to this flight CX293 from HKG-FCO, which version of the A340-300 usually fly's this route, 2-class or 3-class?

Many thanks

Some days the schedule shows a confirmed 34C (3-class, old F & J), but that is confirmed for a decreasing number of days of the week as time goes on. Other flights are on the 2-class with new J or 34D (2-class with old-J).

In other words it is totally specific to the day you pick, and, as always with CX, last minute equipment substitution is quite possible.

On next year's summer schedule it switches to a 744 - even in June 2009 ExpertFlyer is showing an unconverted old-F, old-J plane, but I'd be amazed if they aren't all finished by then.

Cheers christep.

There on a midweek Thursday 00:15am flight in February. Also what's the aircraft code for the 2-class new J (got the other two 34C & 34D)?

according to CX newsletter CXWorld Nov Edition, FCO will see 74A service in Apr 2009.

What does "74A" stand for? Maybe the reconfigured version with new inflight products? Thanks

Yes, the 747 with new products in all 3 classes (as a simple search of this forum or a look at the CX website would have told you)

According to flyerguide, there is one 34B (B-HXC) which is the two class 343-300 equipped with the new long haul J & Y seats. But they are deployed for CX257/256. Chances of getting this re-configured a/c is still unclear for FCO in Feb. Though for some people such as myself, the old NBC is much more preferable than the new herringbone.
