Avoid downgrade to Silver
Hi, this is my first post here and I have done a search for the following information with no luck. I want to see how I can avoid being downgraded to Silver status in MPC.
I am a MPC Gold Status member and my membership year will be reset in Aug 07, even with the traveling I will do through Aug I will be 6500 points below renewing Gold status and assume I will be downgraded to Silver. I do have a number of flights booked for Sept/Oct that would get me to Gold, but they are after Aug 07. I only joined MPC in Feb 06, so don't understand why I am not given 1 whole year to earn points.
Apart from taking a weekend trip to Sydney, is there anyway I can remain Gold? I rang MPC and they said no.
If the answer is in another thread, please put the link up, I spent the last hour searching!

I don't think there is much you could do now. You could call MPC after your flights in Sept/Oct and ask them to put you back in Gold again. MPC usually would grant it although it is not guaranteed.

The reason you think you are not given a whole year is that between Feb 06 and Aug 06 you travelled 90,000 miles. YOu would have then been upgraded to Gold, and your miles reset to zero. You are then given 12 months from your reset to get another 60,000 miles to keep gold (ie from Aug 06 to Aug 07).

I assumed OP had more than 90,000 between Feb 06 and Aug 06, in order to go past Silver and get Gold by Aug 06. Then OP has until Aug 07 to get 60,000 miles to remain a Gold member. In that case, OP will be downgraded if not able to get 60,000 miles by then.
Here is how I feel:
* Aug 07 is still a few months away. It is difficult to expect the events in the next few months. It may be too soon to call MPC anyway.
* If MPC allows OP to remain Gold, that will be after OP's Sep/Oct travel, as already mentioned. OP may also momentarily drop from Gold to Silver until the qualifying flights are taken.
* If MPC grants that request, then the segments used for the renewal this year cannot be used for renewal/upgrade the next year.

they may allow you to keep your status even if you have did not reach the requirement, although you would not know if they will until they send you a letter afterwards saying that they beleive you still should keep your status.... . i know of someone who tried this.
