Flight Availability Issues

Hi All,

Hope someone can enlighten me. I'm trying to book an H-Class seat on CX828 for May 14 or 15 with an existing H-class ticket. I checked availability on ExpertFlyer - it shows H9. I rang up CX and they told me there are no seats available and have to put me on the waitlist. I'm puzzled.

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Looks like there has been something wrong with availability recently:

There were some problems reported on ExpertFlyer. There is another thread in this forum discussing that.

Did you call CX reservation or MPC? Were you already MPC SL when you booked this ticket (some years ago I encountered such a situation and CX was not aware of my status being upgraded)? If not done yet, please call MPC as MPC SL should get some priority and you can hopefully get cleared soon.

I called MPC and I've been Silver for the past 3 years and I was a SL when the original ticket was purchased in January.

You already did what I have in mind. One last try will be to try for upgrade and see if there is any availability, but in general U is even less available.

I sincerely hope that your flight will get cleared soon.

Are you taking CX828 only or are you connecting to another flight? Availability is different if you are connecting.

I'm not connecting. I called MPO again today and they booked me on the 16th with the 14th and 15th still on waitlist. Very strange indeed. I checked with KVS also and all systems show H9 also. MPO told me their system shows no availability for the 14th and 15th on H.

It could be a pos availability issue. Try calling YVR office, or have your friend call YVR office to book for you.@:-)

POS availability seems like the big new thing in airline marketing. BA seems to be the leader, with CX apparently getting on the bandwagon now. I hope the availability tools learn how to publish that information asap.

POS availability has been around for a long time, just little noticed. KVS used to support it and it still has a POS drop down box. However, the current version always grey out the POS box. You cannot change it, it always shows POS USA.

I have had UA flights where KVS shows H0, yet I was able to book H class from Asia (not from USA). KVS works fine if you make your bookings in USA, otherwise, it is hit or miss.

POS marketing first got my attention in the OneWorld forum, where discussions often center on RTW journeys.

Besides seat availability limitations at the original point of departure (the actual pos for the ticket) it's not clear whether or not en-route schedule changes (generally freely available for the booking codes being discussed) are subject to the availability at the origination, at the enroute stop du jour, or some other formula.

At the moment, you can choose between 2 POS countries: US (Apollo, WSpan, and Sabre Methods), and Japan (Galileo Method).

Thanks. ^ I never realized that Galileo is POS Japan. Why can't we change POS for other methods anymore?

There are no other POSs available at the moment. In the past, all ITN POSs have been US-based anyway ...
