New software has been developed and is now being used by several airlines that makes POS much easier to manage and allows for tracking profitability (and maximizing it) ... thus the "sudden" increase in POS interest. More airlines will be doing more of it in the near future.

As I was looking flight availability from HKG to JFK, KVS shows only B or higher fare class available. However, CX.com HK site will sell me M class. I guess this is POS issue.
Can I say that KVS tool or expertflyer is only useful when you usually buy ticket from US?

This may or may not be a POS country issue: For example, CX.com may not check availability in real-time, until you actually enter the payment details and try to complete the purchase (at which point, you would get a 'sorry, fare no longer available' message). It may also be a non-country-specific POS issue, e.g. CX may provide better availability for bookings made through its website ...

There was an article in CX World that introduces the new revenue system that "enables the dinest degree of segmentation down to individual seats instead of by subcllasses through bid-price control...."

I have scanned the article - it makes for an interesting read and could be an explanation to problems of fare class inconsistencies.

Thanks pacificboot. What this means to me is just putting in writing what I've been seeing lately, extremely limited D seat availability SFO/LAX-HKG-BKK/SIN. And the D fares have risen quite a bit lately on top of that.
