Happy Flyer for 5 Mins at LAX

Just checked in on CX881 from LAX-HKG with my mother.
When we checked in, we requested for a upgrade for her then she said if we moved our flight we can have a op-up to J. So we was thinking great! After the check-in staff took our boarding passes. While this was happening, I was telling my mom the Emerald was well worth it...
THEN... then checkin agent came back and said it was a mistake they wanted 883 Y pax to go to 881 because it has been oversold. sigh...
Then we request an upgrade using my mother's Asia miles for herself only. After another 5 mins toyng around, the agents came back and said not enough points. blah... I was so sure she had just enough to get an upgrade.... So I stormed out of that area, now a bit piss.... I went and paid $3 to use the internet at level 4 where the food it. After confirmed I was right... ran back to the same agent again and asked for an upgrade...
So she took off again... after another 5 mins... she finally found out why she cannot process the upgrade... my mother was booked on a N class... good one... End of story...
Well, I was happy for 5 mins.. nothing more nothing less... now juse dissapointed sitting at the CX F... which is much better then the zoo in the CX J.

Just FYI for other people reading this thread...

Asiamiles upgrades can only be applied to tickets that earn asiamiles. CX's N, S, and O class tickets cannot earn miles and thus cannot be upgraded, using asiamiles. But it would have been perfectly okay had she been given an op-up!

Bugger eh, too bad for us, should have booked 883. It would have costed us $2400 USD if we wanted to pay cash.
