Love this "immediate down to business attitude" by our newest moderator.

Can I respectfully suggest that a number of the posts in this thread (and one or two others recently) would be far better done in PM? Let's keep the forum for on-topic discussion please.

Me, three, or four, or whatever! We need more moderators like Empress on other boards. You should check out other boards if you haven't, and you will know what I am talking about.

I have, and I am not particularly comfortable with what I see. Moreover, I know from PMs that one other very valuable member of this forum has already left FT as a result of this decision (the final straw for him) and another has indicated that he expects to leave shortly. None of those who I believe are the top 5 posters in this forum is happy with the situation, and all would prefer one or more regulars to be the moderators. I and at least one other such regular have discussed the situation with Randy (peace be upon him, or whatever we are supposed to say) and offered to take on a moderator role, but He apparently does not wish to take us up on that offer. Make of that what you will.

There were some good dicussions above that were on topic in regards to name problem on the ticket and I've given this thread enough chance to stay on topic by nicely asking any off topic posts to PM and Moderator issues to Randy.

I think Randy and I would agree that this problem you two (Guy Betsy & christep) are having with me has nothing to do with name issue that the original poster had so it's completely unacceptable to hijack this thread in the way you two did.

Excuse me. Is this from the member that also posted on this very thread "If you can't say anything nice about fellow travellers, then please don't post anything." after making several derogatory remarks about the new moderator both in this forum as well as the Air Canada forum? It surely can't be the same person can it? This type of crap is just not going to make it on FlyerTalk. You want to make it an issue - go right ahead, but frankly, you're going to have to do it somewhere else. You were and perhaps are a much better member when posting on the topic of Cathay. Notice: leave the politics at the forward door, also known as an exit.

Nice spin, but did you let members know your offer came 'after' the current moderator was named. Did you mention your offer was just yesterday? Gee, the mod position has been open for a few months with no offer to help from you and now you're praising overnight delivery? It seems that the demand here is for a politically appointed mod - just the thing that we have tried hard to avoid on FT.

and in case you want to know why i did not turn around your suggest yesterday? The mods will tell you that i spent over 3 hours on live chats with two groups of mods talking about nothing but how they want ot make FT better for all members. Apparently a few members here spent that same time doing almost the opposite.
