I also read this in the October issue of inflight magazine. It seems to mean that CX DM and GO can visit the lounge even if they are not connecting to a CX flight?

As a BAEC GOld, I'm guessing if I'm not flying CX, then I ain't have access to the lounge?

That's what I was wondering too, hence why I've queried it with CX seeking confirmation, because my reading of it is
* first class and business class passengers on a Cathay Pacific flight or partner airlines such as Oneworld
* Cathay Diamond, Gold and Silver members only when travelling on a Cathay Pacific flight
* Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members only when travelling on a Cathay Pacific flight

That's about the size of it.

Cathay Pacific Shekou Lounge access arrangements confirmed as follows, and the first one's a doozy:
  • Cathay Diamond and Gold members when travelling on any airline – yes, I double-checked this – any airline departing from Hong Kong. Matters not if it's Oneworld, Star Alliance, SkyTeam, Emirates or Etihad etc etc – as long as the Cathay Diamond or Gold member holds a boarding pass for a flight from HKG, they’re good to go
  • First class and business class passengers only travelling on a Cathay Pacific flight (no partner airlines)
  • Cathay Silver members and Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members only when travelling on a Cathay Pacific flight (no partner airlines)

So I visited Cathay's new Shekou lounge last week, and here are a few quick observations and pics.

* The lounge is perched at the end of the F Gate pier used by CKS ferries, past the general 'waiting area' - you can make it out in the background of the shot below.

* Capacity is approx 60, the lounge makes the most of its compact and elongated layout.

* It's indeed like a small bayside version of The Deck, and I quite liked the way this was delivered and the cosy ambience of this smaller space.

* As previously flagged, there's no Noodle Bar because ferry passengers are not long-stay passengers so they're not looking for a lunch or dinner, just light bites - but more than enough between breakfast at home or the hotel and lunch at HKG's The Pier, for example.

* CX says its loungefolk get priority boarding of the ferry 15mins ahead of departure, compared to 10m for everyone else now I'd prefer to spend more time in the lounge, not less, but I can appreciate that on a crowded ferry this will help you snare the best seats.

* There's also currently a 'VIP Courtesy Channel' for fast boarding onto the ferry will be nice at crowded times, although again, I'd prefer to stay in the lounge another five mins and be among the last on board.

* There will soon be direct boarding from the lounge onto the ferry, via a stairwell near the reception area this stairwell is currently roped off while final work & inspections takes place (but I was invited to wander down for a squiz and this will indeed be very handy when it opens).

Just passed by today. Could bring a +1 guest due to OWE. Unfortunately my ferry (as all the ones leaving around the same time, seemingly) left from the other side of the ferry terminal. Thus no boarding from the lounge, but they announced when the ferry started and we could easily walk there in ~5 minutes. There were no going-up escalators. There was an elevator but we just brought our carry on upwards.

There were like 4 guests and 10 very attentive workers. Surprisingly super nice and quiet.

Its quite a nice space to spend time in if you are coming from SZ and can time it with a Ferry from Shekou, certainly much better than the regular terminal.

Yep, and a bonus for Cathay Diamond and Gold members they can use the CX Shekou lounge when travelling on any airline out of HKG, not just a CX flight. As long as the Cathay Diamond or Gold member holds a boarding pass for a flight from HKG, theyre good to go.

(For everyone else first & and business passengers, Cathay Silvers and Oneworld Emeralds and Sapphires the lounge is available only when travelling on a Cathay Pacific flight.)
