This is quite interesting because I thought the post-March schedules (at least for the spring) would have been firmed up by now. Article says the US DOT filings are for the schedule period commencing March 26, 2023:

Cathay Pacific taps Taipei, Vancouver for potential US traffic connections

We had already heard CX was considering resuming JFK-YVR-HKG, but BOS-TPE-HKG and JFK-TPE-HKG are definitely new and novel.

Just got the notification today that my "confirmed" ORD-HKG flight in July has (finally) been cancelled. This was booked back in October...I'm guess with the new schedules being released, it was time for them to let me know. As this was booked using MileagePlan miles, I'm not sure what to expect re: "alternative arrangements," but it was nice while it lasted lol. Interestingly, it's still showing as "confirmed" on their website when I go to Manage Booking.

I was hoping to find some news about the ORD route here...not exactly what I wanted to see...

I did not even know 806/7 was ever back on the schedule...still kind of surprise BOS resumed before ORD.

Me too. With ORD, they have a chance to get back in the ring before UA. BOS is pretty safe from competition.

I thought UA withdrew from the ORD route before COVID?!

I'm not sure when they withdrew, but after SFO, ORD is the next most logical choice for a HKG flight (EWR might win out were it not for the Russian airspace issue).

That regulatory filing is now appearing as withdrawn, with no replacement/supplement as yet. Stop getting my hopes up, Cathay!

I’m starting to think the proposed TPE stop could be a plan B in case they have to resume Russian airspace avoidance, to allow for refueling on westbound flights. (I believe both LAX and TPE were used last year for fuel stops when needed for the JFK flights.) In the filing, the return flights from HKG back to BOS/JFK were listed as nonstop service.

There is currently proposed legislation in the US that would ban foreign carrier flights to/from the U.S. from flying over Russian airspace, so this could just be a contingency plan.

I would also post your situation on the Alaska MileagePlan CX awards thread:
Cathay Pacific (CX) Award Redemption, Booking and Availability (2023 and Later)

There are many people who have gone through similar situations with cancelled CX awards booked through AS MP, and might be able to chime in on what to expect from CX's proposed "alternative arrangements" and the likelihood of them accommodating you on another CX flight from a different gateway airport.

Good news is you still have almost five months to find a solution.

Best of luck and please keep us posted.

I guess CX is trying to play safe; what if the US DOT did not allow aircraft pass-through Russian airspace to and from US destinations?
We might see an 888 reborn, but it seems that CX has given up JFK-YVR route. My opinion is if they are just tech stop, might be it is better to make 888 again.

It seems that ORD and YYZ are not on the list. Wonder if ORD will make a comeback and YYZ will switch to HKG-ANC-YYZ

Thanks. Booking has been cancelled...CX rebooked me out of JFK which would be a ridiculous inconvenience on my end, so I had MileagePlan cancel it.

826/829 YYZ HKG has been flying for almost two year and almost daily service since last fall.
YYZ HKG does not fly over US airspace.
