Hello - I need to go SFO-HKG this summer. Have there been any announcements about resuming this route?

Right now, it seems like only United is flying this route.

I wasn't aware SFO hadn't returned to service yet, but other US gateways are currently cheap enough to justify a connection at LAX.

I drive by SFO periodically and it's been so long since I've seen any Cathay tails. The cheapest/fastest alternative to United SFO-HKG is.... EVA SFO-TPE-HKG. But because I've got a young kid - I'm not super excited about any transfer/connection these days.

Facepalm. I looked *only* on outbound flights on Thursday across July. All I had to do was pick Wednesday.

I'm looking to redeem miles for a flight to Europe for end May. Flexible on destination, but anyone have any insights if CX will be adding more of the European destination by then? Couple of destinations are still not back online so was thinking if I should risk it and wait a bit longer or just confirm a flight right now that is not too favourable for me.

Does anyone know when the flights network will be updated? I can only find info till March, will information of April come out next month?

Wondering if JNB will come back this year. Think I saw someone mentioned end of Jan. I looked at timetable / schedules but couldn't see anything pop up.

I see HKG-JNB starting Aug 1, 3x weekly Sun/Tues/Fri

Just returned from Phuket on the new CX flight with the A321neo in Y (HKExpress also has a flight). The OWE benefits are very good (could select the excellent row 22, take my golf bags, lounge). This is an excellent shorthaul plane, good seats, super entertainment system.
Service was excellent.
So much better than HKExpress.

I fully agree with -brunos- HK Express is very much a LCC absolutely no frills but a newish fleet and polite and helpful
staff - it works.
Very little benefit being a Cathay 'club' member though -no lounges of course.
I was struck by how young were both the staff and passengers - very possibly most of the pilots also .
I also flew on Bangkok Airways this trip and as always impressed. Good legroom (v tight on HK Express) They have lounges open to all- simple and basic but decent
The even managed to serve a hot full lunch or dinner and wine on the 85 minute flight between Bangkok and Phuket
They are a good budget choice and code share with Cathay

I've never regarded PG as a budget airline, myself.

Any news on ORD?
Haven't seen anything for the last 2 months, but my flight with them is still showing as "confirmed" with seat selections and everything this July...

JNB will comeback at around Aug23 with A350-900 (35G) with 3weekly. Subject to 777 resume progress

It looks like SFO is going 77W all the way till the end of March, and most of the time with the exception of 892/893 is a 77K. After the end of March, it reverts back to an A359. Hopefully that's a typo for now. 870/879 for sure are using the 77K, which I have flown on that route and is always packed.

LAX on the other hand is continuing with the 77W on one of their flights only.

YVR we haven't seen any changes on that; the former 77W routes have always been SFO, LAX (still can be), YVR, YYZ, and JFK (sometimes).

There is a possibility I may be flying this Spring to BLR for a relative's wedding and may take CX. Hopefully it'll be a 77W, because I flew the A359 on SQ about a month ago and the comfort is a little more compromised than the 77W's (10-abreast I get is bad, but not as bad as the A359).

Also, read an article about the discontinued routes and thankfully MAA isn't one of them, so I'm optimistic in due time, hopefully Summer or Fall it will come back; flights to MAA have always been packed on CX (they have used the 77K).
