I wonder how 'pernament' was the Bridge's closure? If they removed everything yet or if it could be easily opened back up.
Pier is quite a trek for most people.

The Bridge is ded.
Since transit pax have to go to different transit points: Cathay Pacific **may** need to reopen The Pier Lounge or use Plaza for transit passengers for non-mainland flights (me speculating)
This is because the arrangement of passenger flows means transit passengers for international flights cannot enter the zone occupied by mainland bound passengers where The Wing is located
I dont see how Cathay could send non-China transit passengers to The Wing

The spirit seems to be that China-bound pax are "green" and I wonder if they will let them mix with other HK-departing pax.
One possible interpretation is that the priority will be to segregate China-bound from all others.
The recent lounge separation between transit and non-transit pax is probably less of a priority.

I think somewhere in the article it says that there will be a line of no return at Gate 24. As long as you stay below that line you are in the green zone. Once you step beyond it you will have to quarantine to come back.Originally Posted by brunos

wonder what will happen to lounges.
For those without SCMP access, here is the same article (no paywall):Originally Posted by brunos

IMO, it seems a bit premature to think about specific lounge assignments at this juncture (i.e. walk before running).

a stupid thinking right? So it is ok for those China bound paxes to be in HKG and mixed and eat and do anything and then once in the airport, the China bound paxes need to be separated from other destination bound paxes who also originated from HKG? Originally Posted by brunos

if the China bound pax are separated from transit pax, then it look logic.
maybe HKG should designated some part of the airport as domestic terminal instead.

I think the concern is China-bound passengers mixing with transit passengers (as opposed to other passengers originating in HK).Originally Posted by sbs2716g

Use YYZ as an example, Domestic, Intl and Transborder(US).

Sounds like the way to turn HKG into a domestic airport for China, just in line with the NSL

I think this is a good idea generally speaking. The only thing I fail to see is how Rest of the world --> HKG --> Mainland China transit would be possible under this scheme. Perhaps it is not meant to be possible.

No transiting via HKG to China allowed. I think the idea is transitees will be segregated to China, rest of the world and HK departures.Originally Posted by ernestnywang

I know it is currently not allowed. If the segregation will be there in the long term, I wonder when they will ever allow it again.Originally Posted by tentseller
