Cathay Pacific 2021 interim results out Wed Aug11, ~1200 HKG

Just an FYI for those who're interested in and like to keep an eye out for these things: Cathay Pacific will release its '2021 Interim Results' around noon tomorrow (Wednesday August 11), and there'll be follow-up coverage from a media presentation and Q&A which starts 4pm HKG.

CX made a loss of around HKD7.5 billion for the half (around US$1 billion).

They carry average 868 paxes daily during the past 1/2 year. Around 157 000 paxes in 6 months.

As could be expected, results are dismal.
Until HK seriously relaxes aircrew quarantine rules, and progressively other quarantine rules, there is no hope for CX.
Whether this will happen in the near future is doubtful.

It's interesting that they made $758m of revenue the first 6 months.. I know it doesn't correspond exactly due to future ticket sales, etc.. but $758m for 157,000 pax is an average ticket price of $4800... seems they are selling tickets very cheaply as well..... but all I see these days on availability are most from full fare buckets... lol...

However, according to the report, yield seems to have increased. Last year average ticket price was 2500$. Also, ticket price should be for one leg I think? So average round trip price is now 9600 which is actually not bad, while last year it was 5000$.
