CX 828

when CX 828 was rerouted thru YVR for the refueling stop after new US Visa requirements for transiting pax, did pax have to get off the plane @ YVR for customs or did they just sit in the plane during refueling and go thru customs upon arrival in YYZ ?

also, during SARS when CX 828 carried HKG-YVR and YVR-HKG traffic, did YYZ-bound pax have to get off the plane @ YVR for customs since YVR became their 1st canadian port of arrival ?

thanks.

YYZ-bound pax clear customs and immigration in YYZ in both cases.

Unless CX plans to carry pax who fly soley YVR-YYZ (won't likely get government approval anyways), all customs and immigration procedures will be at YYZ.

I am supposed to return with CX 828 on December 23rd to YYZ and it shows it as non-stop.

However the CX 829 to Hong Kong stopped in YVR. We stayed in the plane.

Yes, 828 is supposed to be non-stop like AC's A340 flight to YYZ, though if strong headwinds are encountered a YVR refueling stop may be in order. I just came in on 829 from YYZ with the refueling stop in YVR. We arrived into HKG an hour early. Nobody was permitted off or on [other than staff] at YVR, though the gate information refers to the flight as being bound for YVR and HKG. Will let you know about the return on the 9th.

During the SARS period, on the flight I took, YYZ pax stayed on the plane.

CX should be flying YYZ and JFK non-stop both-way year round, period. Buy the planes that can fly the routes, negotiate with the Russians for rights, whatever. All these fuel-stops are ridiculous when CO has been flying EWR-HKG for years, and SQ will be starting EWR-SIN.
