Look in the AC or AA forum (archives). CX did comp AA status (up to mid level) for people residing (or had elite accounts domiciled) in Canada.

By principle, they will probably not comp AC status for Pretige and for Elite (*Gold). If you are Super Elite with AC, and can demonstrate a "significant" amount of flying pattern, you might get Silver or Gold at most. It seems CX will NEVER comp anyone to Diamond.

You must note that the amount of miles you need to achieve Elite with AC (gold) is equal to amount you need for Silver (OW Ruby) with CX. So I would doubt they comp you to MPC Gold. If you are lucky, you might get silver.

If you email MPC, you will get a usual template response that they won't comp your status. You are better off talking to powerful travel agents who can give you a referral. If you also have many J or F class bookings with CX in the near future, that will help.

Bottom line is that if they DO comp you, they are doing you a big favor. Don't complain even if they don't act in your favor.

just wondering if any SQ PPS member has sought and been given a comp? you'd think that, if any, this would be one frequent flier that CX would consider bending the rule in order to capture.

this is just a random thought, btw. i'm a very happy PPS member and not out to dilute CX Gold/Diamond.

that said, a years' access to the Wing/Pier would be quite alright by me...

Basically speaking if you are ask yourself to any FF programme in asia, you'd be given a brush off. That goes for both CX Marco Polo Club and SQ PPS. They'd both say that you must fly to get the status.

'COMPing' is a BAD American habit. It's the 'do you know who I am attitude' that does not go down too well in asian and in some aspects, european cultures. Up until a few years ago, no one in asia would have even asked something to be sent back to the kitchen even if it was something wrong with it for fear of losing face. The same can be said of asking for something when one has not earned for it honestly?

However that said with the numbers of 'westernised' views of service and competition in asian society, 'COMPs' can happen but must be approached by someone of higher clout than you - the lowly fare paying passenger.

By that I mean, unless you can show proof that you will be travelling (and have booked and bought) x number of CX tickets in J and F class in the next year, CX might comp you to the level that you will have achieved IF you travelled on those tickets. However, if you hope that CX will just give you the status and you're not going to travel at all, you can be d*mn sure that your status will have either a sudden expiry date or a valid-by attached to it.

The best way to get comped by CX, AFAIK, is thru your company & its travel agent.

If your company switches carriers to use CX as preferred, they should be able to negotiate comped status for frequent travellers in the programmes of the airline they are switching from

If you get comped and don't fly as you had most likely said you would you can forget about getting any favours in future even if you do start flying.

SQ do comp but it may not be to the level you wish. AA for sure and CX not sure as I used my CX membership to convince these two airlines to comp.
