Basically speaking if you are ask yourself to any FF programme in asia, you'd be given a brush off. That goes for both CX Marco Polo Club and SQ PPS. They'd both say that you must fly to get the status.

'COMPing' is a BAD American habit. It's the 'do you know who I am attitude' that does not go down too well in asian and in some aspects, european cultures. Up until a few years ago, no one in asia would have even asked something to be sent back to the kitchen even if it was something wrong with it for fear of losing face. The same can be said of asking for something when one has not earned for it honestly?

However that said with the numbers of 'westernised' views of service and competition in asian society, 'COMPs' can happen but must be approached by someone of higher clout than you - the lowly fare paying passenger.

By that I mean, unless you can show proof that you will be travelling (and have booked and bought) x number of CX tickets in J and F class in the next year, CX might comp you to the level that you will have achieved IF you travelled on those tickets. However, if you hope that CX will just give you the status and you're not going to travel at all, you can be d*mn sure that your status will have either a sudden expiry date or a valid-by attached to it.
