First Class Seat Selection

I've got N.A./HKG flights on 747s and am travelling alone. Any advice on seat selection. The seats way up front seam to provide max. privacy but perhaps there might be a bulkhead problem? What are other people's experience and recommendations?
Thanks.

Try getting either 1A or 1K as they offer the most privacy. However, the new CX First Class have privacy screens.

I think you will enjoy CX's First Class service. Please provide us with a trip report when you complete each sector. It would be great to hear from you.

Will do oneworld Fan...and thanks for your response. I have only experienced AA first class which I found fine but nothing special. I am looking forward to this CX experience!

This is not true! I suppose it varies by flight (and crew), but on my last 3 flights on an A340 there was absolutely no unnecessary traffic to the F galley, and the F galley was not used for any purpose except to prepare meals for F passengers and the pilots. The J galley (behind the F cabin) did have a lot of activity, but it did not disturb me in any way. The new F config in the A340 is actually more comfortable than the 747s as the seats are slightly better (an improved model) and there is a better IFE system. Personally I prefer a new A340 to an old 747 config (probably the new 747 config will be comparable to the new A340 in which case it will once again become preferable).

I love the nose FC section on a 747, very quiet and private. I love 4K the best. It has a lovely area to the right on which you can prop your feet, lay out your laptop, books, folders...

I also love the cubby that your head goes into when you put it in the bed position.

Some people complain about galley noise in the last row but I've never really heard much.

Much has been written on the subject of best FC 747 seat. Do some searches and you will find many opinions.

I am looking forward to my first CX experience all in F only 210 days to go...

Dec 27 DFW - LAX
Dec 27 LAX - HKG
Dec 30 HKG - SYD
Jan 12 MEL - HKG
Jan 13 HKG - LAX
Jan 13 LAX - DFW

Now I am waiting to call CX to request 1A & 1K. The only dissapointing part of the trip will be to get back on AA metal to DFW.

3/4-A/K are the best ones for me on a 747. 1A and 1K are too close to each other.

I completely agree (and respectfully disagree with number_6).

If you are in 747 and up front, you have no one passes through. I was alone on Airbus a few weeks ago on the right half of the F section. Still, crew come and go on and off. I simply find it annoying also the light from the galley, too. You don't have them when you are on 747.

Really, there aren't any bad F seats in CX's 747.

For privacy, 2A/K are probably best. (1A is vaguely close to 1K; the row 3 and 4 window seats are vaguely close to the row 3/4 center section seats.) However, for space, the row 4 window seats are best because you've got a wide shelf between the seat and the window.

If I'm traveling solo, the seats I'd prefer least are the center section seats and 1A/K -- I don't care for the latter because (for me) the proximity of the bulkhead prvides a much less roomy feeling than the other seats.

Amen to that!

No matter how good the crew, the galley on a A340 is still in front of you, no matter which F seat you're in. It's impossible to avoid seeing and hearing the activity, even if the FA's minimize inter-cabin activity.

In row 1 of a 747, nobody except the FA (bringing you something ) will come up to your seat.

I personally like 2A or 2K... just 'coz it's not a bulkhead and it's not as confined... there is also plenty of space to the side for more legroom.. haha..
