My recent experience booking a trip to BKK. CX Economy was $4100 all-in, TG Business Class is $3500. TG's planes might be old, but the slopey business class seat is still way better than CX's regional seat, and the catering is better too.
The Marco Polo changes have been great. They've opened my eyes to try different airlines.

Without wanting to put the boot in ...
I have to go to Bali for a work event. Timing and solidarity requires CX. $6.2k for an economy class ticket that earns 100% AsiaMiles; 4K for a ticket that earns 25% Asia miles. So now there is a 50% premium to earn decent miles? Having re-qualified for Diamond already, I chose the cheaper fare ... As did the rest of my team
How many of us who decide to move away from MPC or to max out at silver or gold will start dropping their spend on these types of tickets ...

Without many extras to be DM or GO (over, say a partner OWE), indeed "solitarily" is about all there is keeping you with CX, especially in such a route. Fwiw, I'd rather have two economy seats (especially window and window-aisle in an A330) than CX regional J on that route.
If I could guarantee longhaul J, that might change things for me. But CX adamantly doesn't guarantee stuff regionally, although often enough you can predict it.

Although.....am I allowed to say I appreciate the taste of that cheap junk food more than I did the "proper" meal they served before?
