"The Journey"

CX World has been replaced with a new magazine "The Journey". March 2017 edition can be found here:

http://downloads.cathaypacific.com/c...%20Journey.pdf

Future/Archive copies are here: https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...ld-online.html

Some interesting tidbits from this edition:

Catering improvements (Page 29):
FRIES WITH THAT? Cathay Pacific is in the process of introducing a number of catering enhancements in response to customer feedback. These include:
Increasing the number of snack boxes on long-haul flights by 25%
Adding fries to the burger snack offered in First and Business Class on long-haul flights
Adding a chocolate with meals in Economy on North American, European, Australian and South African routes
Adding a protein element to all Economy and Premium Economy appetisers on long-haul flights
Replacing the current cookie offering with a tub of Haagen-Dazs ice cream on selected flights out of Hong Kong
Adding a slider and fries as a Premium Economy meal option on US and European flights
Singapore self check-in/bag drop currently only has a 70-80% succcess rate (Page 32)

Various articles about the financial results and Time to Win, specifically trying to articulate what Time to Win means (I'm still confused aside from headcount reductions).

All A340s will be retired as of 10 April.

The other point of note is the straight up denial of the social media rumours re any changes in shareholding ownership.

This after at least a gentle nudge...dunno when this happened because I don't often walk the length of 'Aisle 1', but noticed last week that they've cut down the number of manned desks at SIN to ~4 I think (used to occupy the entire length of the check in aisle in the past..some of the space now taken up with the self bag tag machines, and then there was another airline checking in from the same row).

And they're planning on having only 2 (?) manned desks when they move to Changi T4 later in the year!

Sad to see CX Worlds gone.

It is interesting that there seem to be no chinese version for the Journey.

Unless my eyes are getting even worse than I thought, It seemed as if the whole aisle was manned today for my CX 690. I did notice however there were a lot more people using self check in but when I arrived, around 11.30, it was quite empty anyway so I used the desks as usual. I will wait to see how they do things at T4 but only 2 manned desks seems "ambitious" particularly for some of the less frequent flyers who fly on CX....but maybe then I will be forced to go self check in to avoid the queues.

Do people actually read this? I can't imagine that many, if any, staff bothered reading the old CX World.

April 2017

April 2017 edition has been published:

http://downloads.cathaypacific.com/c...ril%202017.pdf
  • Big article justifying 10 abreast 777 seating. First planes coming in 2018 (the ex-EK ones)
  • There's a blurry picture of the retrofitted PEY seats with leg rest
  • Details of what went wrong on the A350 J class seat

The section "We ask our customers..." is a joke. I'd say it's there to justify the alignment of CX KA brand... Mr. SL simply has no idea why CX can't get rid of the KA brand and why the co-existence with comparable high-level of service is important for the CX group...

Honestly as a DM with so many CA / MU top tier members colleague based in BJ / SH they have zero difficulties in differentiating CX and KA... or actually no need to do so which can maximize the network frequency (one of the not much left selling point justifying the high ticket price)

"Our crew ask" is interesting. Probably the underlying question is "Our ID tickets are hard to get onboard" which is mentioned in an earlier section but remained unanswered in both section.

"Most liked on Yammer" is also interesting. Given there're over 20K employees the most liked post scored....

Does anyone has a link to recent issues?

http://downloads.cathaypacific.com/c...%20Journey.pdf is stuck in the Mar-Apr 2019 issue.

https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...ld-online.html is now a dead link.

It seemed CX have removed the magazine from the website too.

Thanks!
