Cancellation of award tickets

Hi,

Can anyone please advise if it is possible to have an award ticket cancelled and have the Asia Miles refunded?
If so, would the Asia Miles be valid for another 3 years?

Thanks.

Thanks for your quick response. So how long would the refunded miles be valid for?

According to a thread a few years ago, the refunded miles will expire in 3-4 years.

If I remember correctly, the policy had been revised long ago to avoid using 12,000 miles to get the entire miles balance "renewed"... Now the expiry date will follow the original expiry day....

But I don't know what would happen when the refund date is after the original expiry date...

Sorry...I misread your thread

I thought you were trying to say the same thing as lchchester http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post21240740 . But when I reread your thread again, you were not.

Actually it's not a bad idea... Consider this...

Renewing 2,000 miles costs you US$40 (p.s. Just saw that they are offering 20% discount for using AM or CX co-branded card, i.e. US$32)

So technically you can get 260,000 (F to somewhere needing to fly 10,001 miles one way) renewed for a year at US$120

To extend the miles expiry for 3 years, it will costs you US$360 v.s. 260,000 / 2,000 x US$32 = US$4,160 using the usual way...

But... Why not just use it asap as miles may devalue suddenly anytime...

We are repeating the discussion from the 5 year old thread. Apparently nothing has actually changed. In fact the biggest award is 336,000 miles (the longest oneworld multi-carrier in F)., so you could extend 336,000 miles each year for US$120.
